Linha Do Sul
Linha do Sul is a Portuguese railway line which connects Campolide A, in Lisbon, and Tunes, in the Algarve. The first section, from Pinhal Novo to Setúbal, was opened in 1861. The route to Funcheira opened on 25 May 1920. In 2003 it was linked to Lisbon, crossing the Tagus River on the 25 de Abril Bridge. The section between Pinhal Novo and Funcheira was classified as Linha do Sado until 1992, while the section from Barreiro to Vila Real de Santo António via Vendas Novas and Beja was classified as Linha do Sul. 25 De Abril Bridge
The 25 de Abril Bridge ( pt, Ponte 25 de Abril, 25th of April Bridge, ) is a suspension bridge connecting the city of Lisbon, capital of Portugal, to the municipality of Almada on the left (south) bank of the Tagus river. It has a total length of , making it the 46th longest suspension bridge in the world. From its inauguration on 6 August 1966 up to 1974, the bridge was named Salazar Bridge (), after Portuguese Prime Minister António de Oliveira Salazar, who ordered its construction. After the Carnation Revolution, which overthrew the remnants of Salazar's regime, the bridge was renamed for April 25, the date of the revolution. It is also commonly called the Tagus River Bridge (in Portuguese: ''Ponte sobre o Tejo'' = "bridge over the Tagus"). Later changes had to be made due to the rapid increase in population. Águas Livres Aqueduct
The Águas Livres Aqueduct ( pt, Aqueduto das Águas Livres, , "Aqueduct of the Free Waters") is a historic aqueduct in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. It is one of the most remarkable examples of 18th-century Portuguese engineering. The main course of the aqueduct covers 18 km, but the whole network of canals extends through nearly 58 km. The city of Lisbon has always suffered from lack of drinking water, and King John V decided to build an aqueduct to bring water from sources in the parish of Caneças, in the modern municipality of Odivelas. Almada
Almada () is a city and a municipality in Portugal, located on the southern margin of the Tagus River, on the opposite side of the river from Lisbon. The two cities are connected by the 25 de Abril Bridge. The population in 2011 was 174,030, in an area of 70.21 km2. The urbanized center had a population of 101,500 in 2001. Tagus
The Tagus ( ; es, Tajo ; pt, Tejo ; see #Name, below) is the longest river in the Iberian Peninsula. The river rises in the Montes Universales near Teruel, in mid-eastern Spain, flows , generally west with two main south-westward sections, to empty into the Atlantic Ocean in Lisbon. Linha De Cascais
The Cascais Line ( pt, Linha de Cascais) is a Portuguese railway line which connects the municipalities of Lisbon, Oeiras, and Cascais. The line starts in Lisbon, at Cais do Sodré and ends in Cascais. On the Lisbon urban trains' diagram it is shown in yello The first section, from Cascais to Pedrouços railway station, Pedrouços, was opened in 1889. The line was completed in 1895. It was the first heavy rail line to be electrified in Portugal, in 1926, and the last to be integrated into CP, in 1977. In July, 2020, CP announced that the line is slated to be converted from 1500 V DC electrification, to 25 kV AC, to match the rest of the network.
