Libyan Football Federation
The Libyan Football Federation ( ar, الاتحاد الليبي لكرة القدم; abbreviated as LFF) is the governing body of football in Libya. It was founded in 1962, affiliated to FIFA in 1964 and to CAF in 1965. It organizes the national football league and the national team. Post-revolution status During the 2011 Libyan civil war, the football team continued to play, completing their 2012 African Cup of Nations qualification match against Mozambique behind closed doors on neutral territory in Cairo. ''The Standard'' is one of the largest newspapers in Kenya with a 48% market share. The Libyan Premier League ( ar, الدوري الليبي الممتاز) is the men's top professional football division of the Libyan football league system. The Libya national football team ( ar, منتخب ليبيا لكرة القدم) represents Libya in men's international association football and it is controlled by the Libyan Football Federation. The team has never qualified for FIFA World Cups in history but has qualified for three Africa Cup of Nations: 1982, 2006, and 2012. In 1982, the team was both the host and runner-up. The First Libyan Civil War was an armed conflict in 2011 in the North African country of Libya that was fought between forces loyal to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and rebel groups that were seeking to oust his government. 2012 African Cup Of Nations Qualification
This page details the process of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualification phase. Forty-six African nations, including hosts Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, entered the competition. Gabon and Equatorial Guinea automatically qualified as host countries. The other 44 nations were drawn into eleven groups, each containing 4 teams. Togo was later added to Group K after its reinstatement. In each group, teams played each other home and away in a round-robin format.
