King's Lynn
King's Lynn, known until 1537 as Bishop's Lynn and colloquially as Lynn, is a port and market town in the borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk in the county of Norfolk, England. 2019 British Speedway Championship
The 2019 British Speedway Championship was the 59th edition of the British Speedway Championship. Robert Lambert was the defending champion having won the title in 2018. The competition consisted of one semi-final and a final, with six riders qualifying from the semi-final, there were 10 riders seeded to the final. These riders were Robert Lambert, Rory Schlein, Chris Harris, Dan Bewley, Craig Cook, Richard Lawson, Edward Kennett, Scott Nicholls, Adam Ellis and Danny King. However, Lambert and Ellis missed out on the final due to injury, so Lambert was unable to defend his title. The championship was won by Charles Wright for the first time, King finished second, while Cook took third place. SGB Championship 2019
The SGB Championship 2019 is the second division of Great British speedway. The season runs between March and October 2019 and consisted of 12 participating teams. The current league champions are the Workington Comets who completed an excellent 2018 season winning three major trophies. Four new teams joined the SGB Championship in 2019 with two of them dropping down from the 2018 SGB Premiership league season these teams were Leicester Lions and Somerset Rebels with Ipswich Witches and Peterborough Panthers moving in the opposite direction. Two teams from the third tier of British speedway the National League Birmingham Brummies and Eastbourne Eagles moved up into this season's league while the Lakeside Hammers did not compete. On 14 January 2019, the Workington Comets management announced that they would not be competing in the league in 2019 for financial reasons. British Speedway Championship
The British Speedway Championship is an annual motorcycle speedway competition open to British national speedway riders. The winner of the event becomes the British Speedway Champion. History Inaugurated in 1961 as a qualifying round of the Speedway World Championship it was open to riders from Britain and the British dominions. It was initially dominated by riders from New Zealand such as Barry Briggs and Ivan Mauger because of the British Final forming part of the World Speedway championship qualifying rounds. Briggs and Mauger were multiple world champions. It was not until 1975 that the final was restricted to British riders. Countries such as Australia and New Zealand then held their own World Individual Speedway championship qualifying rounds. Joshua Lee "Josh" Grajczonek (born 5 February 1990) is an Australian speedway rider. Career Born in Townsville, Queensland, Grajczonek's big break in British Speedway came as an 18-year-old with the Glasgow Tigers. During 4 years with the team he won his first major trophy as a Speedway rider, the 2011 Premier League. For the majority of his time in Britain he has 'doubled-up' riding for a team in both the Elite League and the Premier League. After spells with both the Belle Vue Aces and the Swindon Robins in the Elite League, Grajczonek experienced two successful years riding for the Poole Pirates. In two full seasons with the team he won the Elite League on both occasions. Leicester Lions are a speedway team which originally operated from 1968 until 1983.Bamford, R & Jarvis J.(2001). ''Homes of British Speedway''. The club returned to speedway for the 2011 Premier League season, moving up to the Elite League for the 2014 season. Before the 2019 season, the club dropped down to the SGB Championship before returning to the Premiership in 2023. Previous teams Speedway started at Leicester in 1928 at Leicester Stadium with the Leicester Stadium team entering the English Dirt Track League in 1929 finishing 5th but by 1931 the track, beset with problems, closed. Speedway was also staged at a track known as Leicester Super off Melton Road. After World War II, speedway returned in 1948.
