Lew Stringer
Lew Stringer (born 22 March 1959 in England) is a freelance comic artist and scriptwriter. Biography Stringer began his career from the late 1970s with a series of fanzines, many featuring his popular '' Brickman'' character; these were read by several professional creators (including Kevin O'Neill, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons) who encouraged Stringer to try comics as a profession and Stringer recalls that "Alan Moore actually introduced me to one of the editors at Marvel UK – Bernie Jaye who was editor on ''The Daredevils''". He sold his first professional cartoon to Marvel UK (the British branch of Marvel Comics) in 1983 where it appeared in ''The Daredevils'' comic, after which he worked for a short time as art assistant to the cartoonist Mike Higgs (creator of ''Moonbird'' and ''The Cloak''). Super School
Super School is a comic strip, which started in November 2008 and is drawn by Lew Stringer. This strip was stated in the book The History of The Beano: The Story So Far as originally having the name ''The Ultras'' in the planning stages, and was inspired by the X-Men. The strip originally features four super powered children (which later became five) and their non-super powered Teacher. The pupils are ''Invisible Isobel'', who as the name suggests can turn invisible; ''Safari Sam'', a shapeshifter who can become any animal; ''Stinkbomb'', who can create any aroma; ''Waterboy'', who as the name suggests can control water (like the Marvel Comics villain Hydroman). ACeS (PT Asia Cellular Satellite) was a regional satellite telecommunications company based in Jakarta, Indonesia. It offered GSM-like satellite telephony services to Asian market. The coverage area included Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, China and India. The company operated the Garuda 1 satellite, launched on February 12, 2000. Ivy The Terrible
Ivy the Terrible is a fictional character featured in ''The Beano''. She is a four-year-old girl who annoys her parents with her misbehaviour. She first appeared in ''The Beano'' in 1985 in the comic strip of the same name, but has starred in other comic strips throughout ''Beano'' history. Over the years ''The Beano'' has had many different strips, ranging from comic strips to adventure strips to prose stories. Prose stories were the first to go, being phased out in 1955. Adventure strips were phased out in 1975, with the last one being '' General Jumbo'' (There have been unsuccessful attempts to reintroduce adventure strips with new series of ''Billy the Cat and Katie'' in 2003, 2005 and 2009.) The longest-running strip in ''The Beano'' is '' Dennis the Menace'', which has been running for seventy years. Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. ''Elephantmen'' is an American ongoing monthly comic book published by Image Comics and written by Richard Starkings with art by Moritat and a number of other artists. Issue #1 was released in July 2006. Overview Some 200 years from now, the MAPPO Corporation, headed by the misanthropic and megalomaniacal Japanese scientist Dr. Kazushi Nikken, breeds human/animal hybrids in a secure, top-secret facility somewhere in North Africa. The Hybrids are composed of numerous African animal species including warthogs, elephants, camels, zebras, rhinos, hippos, giraffes, hyenas and crocodiles. Richard Starkings (born 27 January 1962) is a British font designer and comic book letterer, editor and writer. He was one of the early pioneers of computer-based comic-book lettering, and is one of the most prolific creators in that industry. Career Starkings' lettering style was originally inspired by British comic strip letterers Bill Nuttall and Tom Frame. Starkings' UK career began with lettering jobs in '' 2000 ADs '' Future Shocks'' and various strips in ''Warrior''. From there he moved to Marvel UK where he lettered Zoids in '' Spider-Man Weekly'' and ''Transformers'' before becoming an editor for the company in the late 1980s. ''Herman Hedning'' (lit. Herman the Heathen, known as ''Marwin Meathead'' in English editions) is a Swedish humorous comic strip, drawn and written by Jonas Darnell. History Herman Hedning first appeared in 1988 in '' Fantomen'', the Swedish edition of The Phantom. Since then Jonas Darnell has written over 700 strips, and a number of longer stories, typically 8-10 pages. About 680 have been translated into English. The word ''geek'' is a slang term originally used to describe Eccentricity (behavior), eccentric or non-mainstream people; in current use, the word typically connotes an expert or enthusiast obsessed with a hobby or intellectual pursuit. In the past, it had a generally pejorative meaning of a "peculiar person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual, unfashionable, boring, or socially awkward". Suburban Satanists
The ''Suburban Satanists'' is a comic strip that appears in Herman Hedning, a comic published eight times a year in Sweden and Norway. The strip began in 1997 in the comic ''Geek'' before restarting in 1999 in its current home. It is created, written and drawn by British cartoonist Lew Stringer. The Suburban Satanists are the DeVille family (the name is a spoof of the Devil), led by the father Stan DeVille, his wife Mavis, and including their grown up children Derek and Sharon. This mini-cult is rounded off with the inclusion of Sharon's son Damien (product of a tryst between Sharon and Satan) and the house lodger Benny.
