Leon Madsen
Leon Madsen (born 5 September 1988) is a Danish speedway rider who is twice a World Championship silver medalist. Career Born in Vejle, Madsen won the 80cc junior World Championship in 2001. In 2018 and 2022, Madsen won the Individual Speedway European Championship. In 2019 and 2022 he was the silver medalist in the Speedway World Championship, on both occasions he finished runner-up behind Bartosz Zmarzlik. Vejle () is a city in Denmark, in the southeast of the Jutland Peninsula at the head of Vejle Fjord, where the Vejle River and Grejs River and their valleys converge. 2022 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2022 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 28th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 77th FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the first series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. Artem Laguta was the reigning champion, having won the 2021 title. However, due to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, he and Emil Sayfutdinov did not return as all Russian and Belarusian riders had been suspended and were barred from participating any FIM-sanctioned events. Bartosz Zmarzlik won the championship, claiming a third world title. Leon Madsen finished as runner-up, with Maciej Janowski taking the last spot on the podium. 2021 Speedway Of Nations
The 2021 Speedway of Nations (sponsored by Monster Energy) was the fourth FIM Speedway of Nations. The competition consisted of two semi-finals and a final. The final was held on 16 & 17 October 2021 and was won by Great Britain, with Poland taking silver and Denmark bronze. During the final Poland took a first leg lead of ten points ahead of Great Britain. Britain's multiple world champion Tai Woffinden suffered an injury after crashing heavily and was replaced by Dan Bewley for the second leg. Denmark topped the points table during the second leg but Poland earned an automatic place in the grand final after finishing with the highest total from the two legs. This meant that Denmark and Great Britain would take part in the eliminator as the second and third best teams, which Britain won by 6 points to 3. 2020 Speedway Of Nations
The 2020 Speedway of Nations (sponsored by Monster Energy) was the third FIM Speedway of Nations. The competition was scheduled to consist of a two-legged final but was reduced to a single leg because of heavy rain on the opening day. The Speedway of Nations normally also includes a semi-final stage, which was due to be run in Latvia in September. The semi-final was cancelled for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the top seven nations from the 2019 Speedway of Nations were seeded direct to the final. Germany withdrew from the competition, and were replaced by the Czech Republic. The final was originally scheduled to be staged on 24 and 25 October 2020 at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester. but was rescheduled and held in Lublin on 17 October due to increased COVID-19 restrictions in the United Kingdom. The 2019 Speedway of Nations was the second FIM Speedway of Nations. The competition consisted of two race-off events and a two-legged final. The event was won by Russia for the second consecutive year. They beat Poland in the Grand Final with Australia taking the bronze medal. Format The 2019 Speedway of Nations was a pairs event, with each nation being represented by two senior riders and one rider under the age of 21. Each meeting was staged over 21 heats with the scores from each rider added together to give a total for each nation.
