Leon Higgins
Leon Higgins (born 27 June 1968) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn in the Australian Football League (AFL). A red headed left footer, he was usually seen at the half forward line. He represented New South Wales against Queensland at the Sydney Cricket Ground, 12 May 1992. In February 1997, Higgins would join runner Shane Naylor to play for a Melbourne team in the 1997 Rugby League World Sevens tournament. The Melbourne team failed to win a match. Higgins played 79 games with the Wodonga Football Club, debuting with them in 1999. Before playing league football he played at Tocumwal, a club which he went onto coach in 2005 and 2006. winning the club best and fairest award in 2005. Tocumwal Football Club
The Tocumwal Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Bloods'', is an Australian rules football and netball club that entered the Picola & District Football League in 2014. The club is based in the town of Tocumwal located in the Riverina district of New South Wales. History Tocumwal FC was established way back in 1891 and played its first recorded match in 1893 against Cobram. Tocumwal played the Murray Border Football Association from 1894 to 1896. They then joined the newly established Federal District Football Association in 1897 and play there until 1902. Tocumwal played in seven consecutive Southern Riverina Football Association (SRFA) grand finals between 1922 and 1928, but unfortunately they only won the last won in 1928. Murray Football League
The Murray Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league affiliated with the Victorian Country Football League. The league covers a large area of northern Victoria and southern New South Wales from Shepparton in the south to Deniliquin in the north. It covers much the same area as the Picola & District Football League but the teams tend to be the larger communities and towns. Sydney Swans
The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Swans also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The club's origins trace back to 21 March 1873, when a meeting was held at the Clarendon Hotel in South Melbourne to establishing a junior football club, to be called the South Melbourne Football Club. Hawthorn Football Club
The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was founded in 1902 in the inner-east suburb of Hawthorn, making it the youngest Victorian-based team in the AFL. Hawthorn is the only club to have won premierships in each decade of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. In total, it has won 13 senior VFL/AFL premierships. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Shane Naylor
Shane Anthony Naylor (born 3 November 1967) is an Australian former athlete who competed in sprinting events during the 1980s and 1990s. Post athletics, he has been involved in powerlifting and is a masters world record holder. Biography Naylor grew up in the Victorian town of Tatura near Shepparton and has a younger sister Lee who was also a notable sprinter. He was an under-18 national champion in the 100 metres. A four-time national 100 metres champion, Naylor won his first title in 1987 as a 19-year old. In 1992 he finished sixth in the final of the IAAF World Cup and only narrowly missed the qualifying standard that year for the Olympics in Barcelona. He represented Australia at two Commonwealth Games, including in 1994 when he claimed a silver medal as part of the 4x100 metres relay team. The Rugby League World Sevens, usually referred to as the World Sevens and sometimes as the World Cup Sevens, was a pre-season rugby league sevens tournament made up over the years primarily of New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL), Australian Rugby League (ARL) and mostly recently National Rugby League (NRL) teams, along with teams representing NSW Country and nations including Tonga, France, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Russia, Fiji, the USA and England. When the National Rugby League was formed in Australasia in 1998 the World Sevens competition was dropped, but it returned in 2003 when Parramatta successfully defended their title from the last time in 1997. The Wodonga Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Bulldogs'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the city of Wodonga, Victoria. History Wodonga's first recorded match was against the Albury Football Club on Saturday, 6 July 1878 in Wodonga. Murray Bushrangers
The Murray Bushrangers is an Australian rules football team playing in Victorian statewide under-18s competition, presently known as the NAB League, since 1993 based in Wangaratta. The team trains on Norm Minns Oval. The team is coached by Mark Brown. Guernsey colours are Black, Purple and Yellow, with black socks and black (home) or white (away) shorts. NAB League
The NAB League Boys (also referred to as simply the NAB League and formerly known as the TAC Cup) is an under-19 Australian rules football representative competition held in Australia. It is based on geographic regions throughout country Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne with each team representing twelve Victorian regions, while a thirteenth team from Tasmania was reintroduced in 2019. The competition is sponsored by National Australia Bank (NAB), having previously been sponsored by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) since its inception.
