Lennie Lee
Lennie Lee (born 4 March 1958) is a South African conceptual artist who lives and works in London. Life and career Lennie Lee is a British artist born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He moved to the UK in 1960. He was educated at Dulwich college in London before winning a scholarship to study philosophy at Christ Church, Oxford. In 1983, he took up painting. Soon after, he moved to East London where he became interested in the urban dereliction left over from the Second World War. In 1984 he occupied several disused buildings and, together with a number of artists including South African painter, Beezy Bailey, he began to make site-specific installations using found material. Kunst Haus Tacheles
The Kunsthaus Tacheles (English: ''Art House Tacheles'') was an art center in Berlin, Germany, a large () building and sculpture park on Oranienburger Straße, in the sub-neighborhood of Spandauer Vorstadt in the Mitte district. Huge, colorful graffiti-style murals were painted on the exterior walls, and modern art sculptures were featured inside. The building housed an artist collective from 1990 until 2012. Originally called Friedrichstraßenpassage, it was built in 1907–1908 as a department store in the Jewish quarter (Scheunenviertel) of Berlin, next to the synagogue. During World War II it served as a Nazi prison for a short while. Under GDR authorities it was later partially demolished. After the Berlin Wall had come down in 1989, it was taken over by artists, who called it ''Tacheles'', Yiddish for "straight talking". Cabaret Voltaire (Zurich)
Cabaret Voltaire was the name of a short-lived artistic nightclub in Zürich, Switzerland in 1916 (revived in the 21st century). It was founded by Hugo Ball, with his companion Emmy Hennings, in the back room of Holländische Meierei, Spiegelgasse 1, on February 5, 1916, as a cabaret for artistic and political purposes. Other founding members were Marcel Janco, Richard Huelsenbeck, Tristan Tzara, and Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Jean Arp. Events at the cabaret proved pivotal in the founding of the anarchic art movement known as Dada. In 2013, the Cabaret Voltaire performances were collectively ranked by Dale Eisinger of ''Complex'' as the 25th best work of performance art in history. Dan Jones (artist)
Daniel Elwyn Jones , known as Dan Jones, is a British artist, collector of children's playground songs and human rights campaigner. He is an education advisor for the human rights organisation Amnesty International. Amnesty International Jones is one of Amnesty International's longest-term supporters, having assisted Peter Benenson and his father, Elwyn Jones, to help launch Amnesty in 1961 which at the time they believed to be an ambitious one-year campaign. He was awarded an MBE in 2001 for services to international human rights, and was nominated as a local hero and reached the finals of the 14th Pride of Britain Awards. He continues to work for Amnesty. In his current role as an education advisor he visits schools and speaks to students to help educate in the fundamentals of human rights. Graham Nicholls (born 30 July 1975) is a British author, installation artist and specialist on out of body experiences. Ingo Giezendanner
Ingo Giezendanner (born 1975) is a painter and installation artist and member of the Kroesos Foundation. He lives and works in Zürich, Switzerland. Since 1998, Ingo Giezendanner, alias GRRRR, has been documenting the urban spaces in which he has travelled and lived. Apart from his native city of Zurich, his travels have taken him to diverse cities from New York and New Orleans to Cairo, Nairobi, Karachi and Colombo. Everywhere he travels, he captures his surroundings on location with pen on paper. Mark Divo
Mark Divo (born 1966) is a Swiss-Luxembourgish conceptual artist and curator who organizes large-scale interactive art projects incorporating the work of underground artists. His work involves painting, performance, photography, sculpture, and installation. Career Between 1988 and 1989 Divo worked in West Berlin. After the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, he moved to East Berlin, where he organized exhibitions at the Kunst Haus Tacheles. Between 1990 – 1994 he organized exhibitions, performances, and murals with the Duncker group. David Burrows (born 1965) is a British artist and writer. His work consists of drawings and paint-spattered, debris-littered, haphazard installations. He writes articles on art and aesthetics and was the editor of Article Press when based at Birmingham City University. He is currently a Reader in Fine Art at Slade School of Fine Art, where his research interests include the depictions of events and aftermaths, utopian narratives and indexical art practices. Martin Maloney (born 1961) is a contemporary English artist. Life and work Martin Maloney was born in London. He attended the University of Sussex 1980–1983, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design 1988–1991 and Goldsmiths College 1991–1992 Martin Maloney practises deliberately "bad" painting, where images (mainly figures) are achieved with apparently inept draughtsmanship and crude painting.
