The Leitrim Senior Hurling Club Championship is an annual hurling competition contested by top-tier Leitrim GAA clubs. The winners of the championship qualify to the Connacht Junior Club Hurling Championship. Carrick Hurling are the title holders, defeating Cluainín Iomáint by 1-12 to 1-11 in the 2022 final. History Records are unclear on early years for this championship. Some GAA yearbooks give Mohill as the 1904 winner and Manorhamilton Shamrocks as the 1906 winner. The hurling team play under the name Cluainín Iomáint (Manorhamilton Hurling). Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The Leitrim Senior Football Championship is an annual football competition contested by top-tier Leitrim GAA clubs. The Leitrim County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1890. St Mary's, Kiltoghert are the title holders (2022) defeating Mohill in the Final. History The 1962 championship had been declared null and void, but in March 2009 Melvin Gaels were declared as champions, ending the longest-running dispute the GAA had ever had. The final play of the 1994 Leitrim Senior Football Championship between Allen Gaels and Aughawillan proved contentious as Martin McGowan of Allen Gaels, who was playing with a dislocated spine, stood to take a free. Drumshanbo (, ridge of the old huts) is a small town situated in the heart of County Leitrim, Ireland. Mohill GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association gaelic football club in Mohill, County Leitrim, Ireland. The parish of Mohill currently has two GAA Football Clubs, Mohill who play in Division 1 and the Senior Championship and Eslin who play in Division 2 and the Intermediate Championship. Allen Gaels Gaelic Athletic Association is a Gaelic football and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, Ireland. History The first GAA club was founded in Drumshanbo in 1889, St Patrick's. It died and was revived several times. As St. Francis', they won the 1963 Leitrim Junior Football Championship. In 1969 Drumshanbo merged with Ballinaglera to form ''Allen Gaels'', taking their name from nearby Lough Allen. The club won two Leitrim Senior Hurling Championships in the 1970s. Ballinaglera left in 1981 to re-form their own club, but Drumshanbo continued with the "Allen Gaels" name. The club's peak came in 1991–2002, winning five senior football titles in twelve years. Ballinamore Seán O'Heslin's Gaelic Athletic Association is a Gaelic football, hurling and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Ballinamore, County Leitrim, Republic of Ireland.
