Mohill GAA
Mohill GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association gaelic football club in Mohill, County Leitrim, Ireland. The parish of Mohill currently has two GAA Football Clubs, Mohill who play in Division 1 and the Senior Championship and Eslin who play in Division 2 and the Intermediate Championship. The Mohill Club also fields teams in Divisions 3 and Junior Championship and Division 4 and Junior B Championship. Philly McGuinness Memorial Park
Philly McGuinness Memorial Park is a Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA Park in Mohill, County Leitrim, Ireland. It is the home of Mohill's Gaelic football, football team. It was named after Philip McGuinness, a Mohill GAA player who died after sustaining a head injury in a Senior Division 1 League game against Melvin Gaels GFC in April 2011. He was 26 years old and was an ever-present on the Leitrim GAA Senior Football team after joining the panel in 2003. On one occasion Philly also played alongside his brothers John and Michael for the Leitrim Senior Team. He was also an accomplished hurler and played for the Leitrim Hurling team. He won a Leitrim Senior Football Championship with his beloved Mohill in 2006 along with his brothers, starring at full forward. Keith Beirne
Keith Beirne (born 28 March 1997) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Mohill and at senior level for the Leitrim county team. In an away game against Derry, Beirne scored nine points in the opening round of the 2020 National Football League (a game which ended in a draw), this after Leitrim had been promoted from Division 4 back to Division 3 for the first time in 12 years. Beirne forced extra time against Sligo in the 2022 Tailteann Cup but Sligo won. In October, he was named on the Tailteann Cup Team of the Year, the only Leitrim player represented. He has played in the US as well. 2017 Leitrim Senior Football Championship
The 2017 Leitrim Senior Football Championship was the 111th edition of Leitrim GAA's premier gaelic football tournament for senior clubs in County Leitrim, Ireland. The tournament consists of 12 teams, with the winner going on to represent Leitrim in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. Aughawillan were the defending champions after they defeated Glencar–Manorhamilton in the previous years final. Ballinamore Seán O'Heslin's made a return to the senior grade after 4 seasons in the Intermediate grade by winning the 2016 Leitrim Intermediate Football Championship. The ''Leitrim Observer'' is the oldest newspaper in County Leitrim. It is a weekly newspaper published every Wednesday and once competed with another newspaper called the ''Leitrim Post'' which was forced to close in 2009 during the economic crash. History The ''Leitrim Observer'' was founded by the Mulvey family in 1889 and was bought by Pat Dunne, for a rumoured sum of £150 some time before 1910. Aughawillan GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football club in Lower Drumreilly parish, County Leitrim, Ireland.
