Leerdam Railway Station
The Leerdam railway station is located in the western Netherlands, on the MerwedeLingelijn line between Dordrecht and Geldermalsen. The railway station was opened on 1 December 1883. Train services are operated by Qbuzz. History A new station building was opened in 1987, next to the former building. It was designed by Cees Douma. Leerdam
Leerdam () is a city and former municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht. The municipality was merged with the municipalities of Vianen and Zederik on 1 January 2019. The name of the new municipality is Vijfheerenlanden which is a part of the province Utrecht. The former municipality Leerdam was a part of the province South Holland. The south border of the town is formed by the river Linge. The name originates from a dam in the river Lede which was a branch from the river Linge towards Meerkerk. Leerdam is situated almost exactly in the middle of the three highways A2, A15 and A27. History Leerdam received city rights in 1407. MerwedeLingelijn
MerwedeLingelijn is the name of the train service in the Netherlands between Geldermalsen and Dordrecht, on the western part of the Elst–Dordrecht railway. Train services were operated by Arriva until 8 Dec 2018, when Qbuzz took over. Since 5 September 2011 (original schedule was 2009) there is a quarter-hourly train service between Dordrecht and Gorinchem. In order for this, the line between Dordrecht and Dordrecht Stadspolders was double tracked, and there is also a passing track built at Boven Hardinxveld, so that trains can pass each other. Qbuzz uses seven train sets, the electric version of the Spurt, the same trains Arriva uses since late 2006 in Groningen and Friesland. These trains have been deployed since 14 September 2008, and have replaced the old Mat '64 trains. In 2011, three additional Spurt-trains were delivered to allow for the increased frequency. Dordrecht is a railway station in Dordrecht, Netherlands located on the Breda–Rotterdam railway and the Elst–Dordrecht railway. The station was opened on 1 January 1872, when the railway line between Rotterdam and Antwerp was opened. On 16 July 1885, the railway line from Dordrecht to Gorinchem was opened. Geldermalsen is a railway station in the town of Geldermalsen, Netherlands. The station opened on 1 Nov 1868. The station is a junction, with an island platform for easy transfers. To reach the platforms from outside of the station, passengers must use a bridge. The current building dates from 1884.
