Lee Chang-Hwan
Lee Chang-hwan (; born 16 March 1982) is a professional archer from South Korea. He competed in Archery at the 2006 Asian Games and won a gold medal with the men's team consisting of himself, Im Dong-hyun, Jang Yong-ho and Park Kyung-mo. 2008 Summer Olympics At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing Lee finished his ranking round with a total of 669 points, ten points behind leader Juan René Serrano. This gave him the tenth seed for the final competition bracket in which he faced Jiang Lin in the first round, beating the Chinese 112–108. In the second round Lee was too strong for Yusuf Ergin (117-109), breaking the Olympic Record. However, in the third round Lee and Cheng Chu-sian both came to 105 points and in the extra round Lee scored 18 points, while Cheng scored 19 points and eliminated Lee. Archery had its debut at the 1900 Summer Olympics and has been contested in 16 Olympiads. Eighty-four nations have competed in the Olympic archery events, with France appearing the most often at 31 times. Park Kyung-mo
Park Kyung-mo (; born August 15, 1975) is an archer from South Korea. He has won gold medals at the three major World Archery Federation events ( Olympics, World Archery Championships and World Cup finals) and is a former world number one. He is married to archer Park Sung-hyun. 2004 Summer Olympics Park competed for Korea at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's individual archery. He won his first three elimination matches, advancing to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Park faced Tim Cuddihy of Australia, losing to the eventual bronze medalist 112-111 in the 12-arrow match. Park placed 5th overall and holds the Olympic record for an 18-arrow match at 70 meters. He scored 173 points out of the potential 180 to set the record. Korean Archery
The Korean Bow ( ko, 각궁, Gak-gung hanja: , or ''horn bow'') is a water buffalo horn-based composite reflex bow, standardized centuries ago from a variety of similar weapons in earlier use. Due to its long use by Koreans, it is also known as Guk Gung ( ko, 국궁 hanja: , or ''national bow''). The Korean bow utilizes a thumb draw and therefore employing the use of a thumb ring is quite common. The Korean thumb ring is somewhat different from the Manchu, Mongol, or the Turkic Thumb Ring, as it comes in two styles, male and female. Male thumb rings are shaped with a small protrusion that sticks out that the bowstring hooks behind (similar to a release aid), while the female thumb ring simply covers the front joint of the thumb as protection from getting blisters (pulling heavy bows repetitively with only the thumb can easily cause blisters to form on the pad of the thumb). Cheng Chu Sian (; born 1 March 1986 in Kuala Lumpur) is an athlete from Malaysia, who competes in archery. 2008 Summer Olympics At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing Cheng finished his ranking round with a total of 660 points. This gave him the 26th seed for the final competition bracket in which he faced Matthew Gray of Australia in the first round, 109-101. With a win over Matti Hatava of Finland (110-103) he qualified for the third round and there he faced Lee Chang-Hwan of South Korea. Both archers scored 105 points in the regular match and had to go to an extra round. Here Cheng advanced with 19 points, while Lee hit 18 points. In the quarter finals Cheng was unable to beat Bair Badënov of Russia (109-104). Badënov went on to win the bronze medal.
