María Laura Raffo Degeronimi (born 22 September 1973) is a Uruguayan economist, businesswoman and politician of the National Party (Uruguay), National Party (PN). She began her political career in 2020 after being proclaimed as the candidate of the Coalición Multicolor for the 2020 Uruguayan municipal elections, municipal elections of that year. Born in Montevideo, she attended primary school at the Lycée Français de Montevideo, Lycée Français of Montevideo, graduated from the University of the Republic (Uruguay), University of the Republic with a Bachelor's of Economics, and has a Master's of Business Administration from the Universidad de Montevideo, University of Montevideo. Herrerism
Herrerism is the centre-right political faction of the National Party of Uruguay. History and prominent members Herrerism is named after the leader and founder of the faction, Luis Alberto de Herrera (1873–1959). His grandson, Luis Alberto Lacalle (1941–), President of Uruguay from 1990 to 1995, has long exercised a leading role in the group. 2024 Uruguayan General Election
General elections will be held in Uruguay on 27 October 2024. If no presidential candidate receives a majority in the first round of voting, a runoff will take place on Sunday 24 November 2024. Background Incumbent President Luis Lacalle Pou, who won the 2019 elections, cannot run again as the constitution bars a president from immediate re-election. As a result, the governing National Party has to nominate a new candidate. Electoral system The President of Uruguay is elected using the two-round system, with a run-off held if no candidate receives 50% of the vote in the first round. Beatriz Argimón
Beatriz Argimón Cedeira (born 14 August 1961) is a Uruguayan politician and notary from the National Party (PN) serving as the 18th Vice President of Uruguay since March 1, 2020, being the first woman elected to that position. Graduated from the University of the Republic in 1989 with a degree in notarization, she also studied human rights, family law, and juvenile law. She served as a National Representative for Montevideo Department between 2000 and 2010, and has been a member of the National Party Board since 2009. Since November 2020, she has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Partido de la Gente (Spanish for "Party of the Folk" or "Party of the People") is a Uruguayan political party. History Founded in 2016, its main leader is Edgardo Novick. Three members of the party have been elected to the legislature: the Senator Daniel Bianchi and the Representative Guillermo Facello, both former Colorados; and the Representative Daniel Peña, a former Blanco.
