Lahovary (spelled in ''Romanian'' as Lahovari) is the name of an old Romanian aristocratic family. Iacob Lahovary
Iacob N. Lahovary ( ro, Iacob N. Lahovari; 16 January 1846 – 7 February 1907) was a member of the Romanian aristocracy, a general, politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of War and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Romania. Life and career Iacob Lahovary was the brother of Alexandru Lahovary and Ioan Lahovary both of whom served as foreign ministers. He attended the Bucharest School of Officers in 1859–1864, École Polytechnique in Paris in 1864–1870. He also graduated from Sorbonne University with a degree in mathematics in 1870. As soon as Lahovary entered military service, he quickly rose in the ranks of the Romanian Army: he became Second lieutenant in 1864, Lieutenant in 1870, Captain in 1871, Major in 1874, Lieutenant Colonel in 1877, Colonel in 1883, Brigadier general in 1891, and General in 1900. Ioan Lahovary
Ioan N. Lahovary or Ion Lahovari; January 25, 1844 – June 14, 1915) was a member of Romanian aristocracy, a politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania. Life and political career Ioan Lahovary was the brother of Alexandru Lahovary, who also previously served as foreign minister and General Iacob Lahovary who was his predecessor in the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and later Minister of War. He was the father of the Princess Marthe Bibesco, a famous Romanian writer. He was elected deputy, being a member of the Conservative Party since 1871. Lahovary served two terms as foreign minister: from April 11, 1899, until July 6, 1900, in the Gheorghe Gr. Cantacuzino Cabinet and March 12, 1907, until December 27, 1908. He was a member of the senate from the conservative party, and he also served as chairman of the Senate. Ioan Lahovary died on June 14, 1915, in Bucharest. Alexandru Lahovary
Alexandru Lahovary ( ro, Alexandru N. Lahovari; August 16, 1841 – March 4, 1897) was a member of the Romanian aristocracy, a politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of Justice, Minister of Agriculture, Industry, Trade and Property, Minister of Public Works and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kingdom of Romania. Life and political career Alexandru Lahovary was the brother of Ioan Lahovary, who served as foreign minister within the Royal government, and General Iacob Lahovary, who also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and later Minister of War. He was born to the noble boyar family of Nicolae and Eufrosina Lahovary from Râmnicu Vâlcea (maybe related to the House of Lackovic). Princess Martha Bibescu (Martha Lucia; ''née'' Lahovary; 28 January 1886 – 28 November 1973) also known outside of Romania as Marthe Bibesco, was a celebrated Romanian-French writer, socialite, style icon and political hostess. She spent her childhood at the noble Lahovary's estates in Baltotesti and Biarritz, where she had an education in literature. During her life, she traveled to and moved around many European countries and met many contemporary influential political figures. During the post-World War 1 period she rebuilt her family estates. She lived in exile after World War 2 when communist rule in Romania started. Nicolae Lahovary
Nicolae Lahovary (), 1887-1972, was a Romanian diplomat. He was minister plenipotentiary to Albania (1934–1936) and to Switzerland from 1940-1944 before being replaced by Vespasian Pella. In his capacity of envoy to Switzerland he was active in contacts with the representatives of the allies for ensuring an armistice.
