Laconia Municipal Airport
Laconia Municipal Airport is a general aviation airport located three miles (5 km) northeast of the central business district (CBD) of Laconia, a city in Belknap County, New Hampshire, USA. It covers and has two runways. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a regional general aviation facility. Though it no longer supports a passenger airline, Laconia was once served by Northeast Express Regional Airlines. Northeast Express utilized an EAS (Essential Air Service) subsidy. Airline service was later provided by Skymaster Airlines, owned by Luke Smith. Smith transformed the service from piston prop Cessna 421-type planes to 15-passenger turbine Beech 99s. Skymaster expanded service from two cities (Laconia and Boston) to five, adding Keene, New Hampshire, Rutland, Vermont, and Newark, New Jersey. Gilford is a town in Belknap County, New Hampshire, United States. The Cessna 421 Golden Eagle is an American six or seven seat twin-engined light transport aircraft, developed in the 1960s by Cessna as a pressurized version of the earlier Cessna 411. Development The Cessna 421 was first produced in May 1967, the 1968 model year. It had "Stabila-Tip" fuel tanks on the wingtips (like the Cessna 310). Its electro-mechanical landing gear are similar to that of the 310. It was an immediate hit, selling 200 planes in its first year. The very next year, 1969, the design was refined, with a three-inch stretch of the fuselage, five more gallons of fuel capacity, and a 40-pound increase in gross weight. The plane was redesignated the Cessna 421A. In 1971, the design was again improved. New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a Oval track racing, oval speedway located in Loudon, New Hampshire, which has hosted NASCAR racing annually since 1990, as well as the longest-running motorcycle race in North America, the Loudon Classic. Lakes Region (New Hampshire)
The Lakes Region of New Hampshire is located in the east-central part of the state, south of the White Mountains Region and extending to the Maine border. It is named for the numerous lakes in the region, the largest of which are Lake Winnipesaukee, Lake Winnisquam, Squam Lake, and Newfound Lake. The Beechcraft Model 99 is a civilian aircraft produced by Beechcraft. It is also known as the Beech 99 Airliner and the Commuter 99. The 99 is a twin-engine, unpressurized, 15 to 17 passenger seat turboprop aircraft, derived from the earlier Beechcraft King Air and Queen Air. It uses the wings of the Queen Air, the engines and nacelles of the King Air, and sub-systems from both, with a specifically designed nose structure. Design and development Designed in the 1960s as a replacement for the Beechcraft Model 18, it first flew in July 1966. It received type certification on May 2, 1968, and 62 aircraft were delivered by the end of the year.
