LIV Golf Invitational Portland
The LIV Golf Invitational Portland is a professional golf tournament that was held in North Plains, Oregon, outside of Portland at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. The inaugural tournament was held in July 2022 as part of the LIV Golf Invitational Series, a golf series led by Greg Norman and funded by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund. Format The tournament was a 54-hole individual stroke play event, with a team element. Four man teams were selected via a draft by their designated team captains, with a set number of their total scores counting for the team on each day. Each round commenced with a shotgun start, with the leaders beginning on the first hole for the final round, in order to finish on the eighteenth. North Plains, Oregon
North Plains is a city in Washington County, Oregon, United States, off U.S. 26 on the northwest outskirts of the Portland metropolitan area. The population was 3,441 at the 2020 census. History Pioneer settlers first arrived in the North Plains area in the 1840s. The area to be known as the city of North Plains was platted in September 1910 by the Ruth Trust Company of Portland. They purchased area tracts after James J. Hill planned to extend United Railways there. On June 25, 1963, North Plains voted 90 to 56 to incorporate as a city; at the time the population was around 500. Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club is just outside town. David Duval won the Nike Tour Championship there in 1993, and it was home to the U.S. Women's Open in 1997 and 2003. Eugenio López-Chacarra (born 22 March 2000) is a Spanish professional golfer. Early life Chacarra was born in Madrid, Spain. His sister, Carolina, also plays college golf in the United States, at Wake Forest University. Sihwan Kim (born December 4, 1988) is an American professional golfer. He plays on the European Tour and the Asian Tour, where he has won two titles. He also plays in the LIV Golf League. Amateur career Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved with his parents to California at a young age. Phachara Khongwatmai (born 3 May 1999) is a Thai professional golfer. Khongwatmai became the youngest winner of a professional tournament when he won the Singha Hua Hin Open on the All Thailand Golf Tour in July 2013 at the age of 14. Sam Horsfield (born 8 October 1996) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Amateur career Horsfield has lived in the United States since he was five years old.
