LEO XU Projects
LEO XU Projects is a contemporary art gallery based in Shanghai exhibiting young and international artists. The gallery Leo Xu Projects is the eponymous gallery founded by Leo Xu in 2011. It is housed in a three-story building in Shanghai's former French Concession, near the intersection of West Fuxing Road and Wulumuqi Road. It represents a younger generation of artists from China and overseas who experiment with a variety of media. The group focuses on the language of urbanism, architecture and new cinema and strives to explore how such vocabularies have inflected the visual culture of modern China. Leo Xu Projects is envisioned as a platform for artistic experiments that investigate and explore through the aesthetic lens the phenomenon of Shanzhaiism, namely bootleg culture, in the contemporary Chinese society. Frieze Art Fair
Frieze Art Fair is an international contemporary art fair in London, New York, and Los Angeles. Frieze London takes place every October in London's Regent's Park. In the US, the fair ran on New York's Randall's Island from 2012–19 and in 2021 was held in the Shed at Hudson Yards, with its inaugural Los Angeles edition taking place February 2019. The London edition normally has about 160 exhibitors in Frieze. It is held over four days in a 40,000SqM tent. There is a simultaneous Frieze Masters event showing older work with about 130 exhibitors, and a temporary sculpture park. In 2021 stand rental was £524 per sqM. Yijun Liao
Yijun Liao, also known as Pixy Liao, is a Chinese artist, living in New York City. Biography Liao was born in Shanghai. She currently lives in Brooklyn. Liao received an MFA in photography from the University of Memphis. She is mostly known for her series ''Experimental Relationship.'' The series depicts her with her younger Japanese partner, Moro. The elaborate photography depicted challenges gender norms in regards to media and sexual expression. Her photography attempts to change the way society sees nudity and media through the lens of a whole new perspective. Yang Fudong
Yang Fudong ( born 1971 in Beijing) is a Chinese contemporary artist. In the early 1990s, he began to work with film. He began creating films and videos using 35 mm film. Currently Yang directs films, creates photographs, and creates video installations. Yang is known to explore themes that are historical, social, and political by juxtaposing contradictions between current social issues, with cultural norms. A fan of the abstract and fragmented storyline, he tends to create sequences that are long and suspended, with the use of black-and-white as a constant. Li Qing (born 1981) is a Chinese artist based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. Life Li was born in the Zhejiang province. Li attended the China Academy of Art, graduating from the Oil Painting department in 2004. Style Li Qing's main medium is oil painting on canvas. He has also worked with photography. ''Shanzhai'' () is a Chinese term literally meaning "mountain fortress" or "mountain camp", whose contemporary use usually encompasses counterfeit, imitation, or parody products and events and the subculture surrounding them. ''Shanzhai'' products can include counterfeit consumer and electronic goods, which can involve the imitation and trademark infringement of brands and companies.
