It was built 1000 years ago. Geography It is situated on National Highway 944 (India), which connects Nagercoil with Tirunelveli and Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. The pond adjacent to the temple (known in Tamil language, Tamil as "Theppakulam") has two "pipal trees" on its banks, one each on the west and south sides. Culture The Krishnan temple at Krishnancoil is described as " The Guruvayoor of South " as the chief deity is visually similar to the one in the Guruvayoor temple. It connects the realistic tradition of Hindu mysticism to local folklore and happens to be a premiere spot for local devotees to show up and present their prayers. Nagercoil
Nagercoil, also spelt as Nagarkovil ("Temple of the Nāgas", or Nagaraja-Temple), is a city and the administrative headquarters of Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu state, India. Situated close to the tip of the Indian peninsula, it lies on an undulating terrain between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea. Nagercoil Corporation is the 12th biggest city of Tamil Nadu. The present city of Nagercoil grew around Kottar, a mercantile town that dates back to the Sangam period. Kottar is now a locality within the city limits. Guruvayoor Temple
Guruvayur Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Guruvayurappan, a form of Vishnu, located in the town of Guruvayur in Kerala, India. It is one of the most important places of worship for Hindus in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and is often referred to as ''Bhuloka Vaikunta'' (Vaikuntha in the earthly realm). Avatar (, ; ), is a concept within Hinduism that in Sanskrit literally means "descent". It signifies the material appearance or incarnation of a powerful deity, goddess or spirit on Earth. The relative verb to "alight, to make one's appearance" is sometimes used to refer to any guru or revered human being. The word ''avatar'' does not appear in the Vedic literature; however, it appears in developed forms in post-Vedic literature, and as a noun particularly in the Puranic literature after the 6th century CE.
