Konstnärsförbundets Skola
was a painting school in Stockholm, Sweden, which was offered by ('the Artists' Society') 1890–1908. The latter association was in turn established in opposition to the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. One of the school's co-founders was Richard Bergh. The school had several well-known teachers, including Anders Zorn, Nils Kreuger and Karl Nordström, in addition to Bergh himself. Several of the alumni would distinguish themselves on the contemporary Swedish visual arts scene. The group ', for example, consisted mainly of pupils from the school. Ester Almqvist
Ester Dorothea Almqvist (3 November 1869 – 11 June 1934) was a Swedish artist who was a pioneer of Expressionist painting in Sweden. Family and education Almqvist was born in Bromma but spent her childhood in Stockholm, where her parents taught in a school for Christian missionaries. She is the female artist who is represented with most artworks in the collections of Malmö Konstmuseum, a total of 2,083 pieces. She had specified in her will that her collection of oil and watercolour paintings, charcoal, pastel and ink drawings, graphic pages and sketchbooks should be donated to that particular museum. Her father, a priest, died when she was nine. Her mother worked as a private tutor and book seller for the sake of providing for her family. Helmer Osslund
Jonas Helmer Osslund, originally Åslund (22 September 1866, in Tuna Parish, Medelpad – 11 July 1938, in Stockholm) was a Swedish painter. He specialized in motifs from Lappland and often painted on greaseproof paper. Biography His father, Daniel (1826–1885), was a painter of some local note. His brother, , was also a painter and his half-sister, was an author. He changed his name from Åslund to Osslund when he lived in America, to make the correct pronunciation more obvious. After his basic education, he attended the (secondary school), then moved to the United States to study engineering. At the age of twenty, he began painting and was employed by the Gustavsberg Porcelain Factory. In 1890, they paid for a study trip to Paris. Bror Lindh
Bror Johan Lindh, born Bror Jansson (19 July 1877, Prästbol, Kil Municipality - 6 February 1941, Grönäs, Karlstad Municipality) was a Swedish painter, graphic artist and cartoonist. He specialized in winter landscapes. Life and work He was part of the Jansson family, whose members had worked as painters since the 1700s. His father, the artist Carl Jansson (1844-1914), added Lindh to their name during a trip to Stockholm in 1863. He had it legally changed a few years before his death. His initial art lessons came from his father, a versatile craftsman who decorated homes and painted furniture. When he had learned his craft, he began working as a decorative painter at a shop in Arvika. He also continued serving as an assistant to his father. Later, he took professional lessons from the artist and designer, Gustaf Fjæstad, who was impressed by his talent, and recommended that he apply for admission at the Swedish Artists' Association painting school.

Gerhard Henning
Gerhard Henning (27 May 1880 – 16 September 1967) was a Swedish-Danish sculptor. While working at the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory, he designed a number of delicately decorated figurines. He is however remembered above all for his statues celebrating the female form. Early life After attending the Technical School in Copenhagen (1892–94), he worked for a couple of years as a house painter's apprentice before spending the winter of 1897–98 in Gothenburg. There he met the Swedish painter Ivar Arosenius (1898–1902) whose friendship greatly influenced his early work as a painter and illustrator. Ivar Arosenius
Ivar Axel Henrik Arosenius (8 October 1878, Gothenburg - 2 January 1909, Älvängen) was a Swedish painter and picture book illustrator. Biography His father Henrik (1841-1901) was a railway engineer and Captain of the Road and Water Engineering Corps. He began by studying for the real estate trade then, in 1895, he received his first artistic training from an amateur watercolorist. The following year, he began formal studies at the Valand Academy, where he became friends with the sculptor, Gerhard Henning. He also took lessons at the School of Design and Crafts, in the department of decorative painting. Eva Matilda Löwstädt-Åström (5 May 1864 – 5 May 1942) was a Swedish painter and graphic artist. Several different dates and years are given for her birth. This one is taken from her tombstone. Biography Eva Matilda Löwstädt was born in Stockholm in 1864. Her father, , was a master tailor. Her grandfather, Carl Teodor Löwstädt, was also a painter and graphic artist. Her sister, Hilma Amalia Löwstädt (better known as Emma Chadwick) also became an artist. Harriet Sundström, ( 23December 1872 – 28April 1961) was a Swedish landscape artist. Biography She was the younger daughter of Carl Rudolf Sundström (1841-1889) and Carolina Sofia Häggström (1849–1943) both of whom were educators. Her father was an ornithologist and doctor of zoology. Her mother was a journalist and foreign editor with '' Stockholms-Tidningen''. She was the sister of Ellen Ammann (1870–1932) who became a co-founder of the German Catholic Women's Association.
