Keaton Henson (born 24 March 1988) is an English musician, composer, visual artist, and poet. Henson has released six studio albums. a wordless graphic novel called ''Gloaming'', published by Pocko, and a book of poetry called ''Idiot Verse''. Henson suffers from anxiety and, as a result, rarely plays concerts. History Early life and career beginnings (1988–2012) Keaton Henson was born in 1988 in London, England. He is the son of actor Nicky Henson and ballet dancer Marguerite Porter, and the half-brother of composer Christian Henson. Henson began his career as an illustrator. He designed the artwork for various albums including Dananananaykroyd's ''Hey Everyone!'' and Enter Shikari's ''Take to the Skies''. Henson recorded songs in his apartment in London, initially purely for his own consumption. Folk Rock
Folk rock is a hybrid music genre that combines the elements of folk and rock music, which arose in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom in the mid-1960s. Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival
The Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival, more commonly known as Rushes Soho Shorts Festival, is a yearly display of short films hosted by Rushes Postproduction. It has taken place every summer since 1999. What began as a small series of screenings at the Curzon Cinema in London's Soho area, has grown considerably since its inception. Celebrity connections A large number of recognizable names have both acted in films at the festival, and presented the festival itself. ''Romantic Works'' is the third studio album by English musician Keaton Henson, released on 16 June 2014. The album features cellist Ren Ford on the majority of songs. Music The album is entirely instrumental, and it features cellist Ren Ford on every song except for "Preface", "Petrichor" and "Nearly Curtains". Keaton Henson described the album's music as "bedroom classical", as it was recorded in his bedroom. The album was inspired by Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass, Henryk Górecki, Edward Elgar, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Saint-Saëns. He said about how the songs are instrumental that "the pieces on it are the in-between moments when I found it all too much to write a clever rhyme." He also said "as someone who writes songs about my own experience, as honestly as I can, I find myself looking for new emotional wells to draw from all the time. Meltdown is an annual festival held in London, featuring a mix of music, art, performance and film. Meltdown is held in June at Southbank Centre, the arts complex covering and including the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and The Hayward. Each year, the festival chooses an established music artist or act as director of the event, and they pick the performers of their choosing. James Lavelle
James Lavelle (born 22 February 1974) is an English electronic musician, record label owner and curator. He founded the Mo'Wax record label in 1992, and has been the only constant member of UNKLE. He directed the 2014 edition of the Meltdown festival on London's South Bank, and curated the 2016 exhibition "Daydreaming with Stanley Kubrick" at Somerset House. He is the subject of 2016 documentary film ''The Man from Mo'Wax''. Career Lavelle founded Mo'Wax in 1992. The label was not co-founded by Tim Goldsworthy, as is often reported. Queen Elizabeth Hall
The Queen Elizabeth Hall (QEH) is a music venue on the South Bank in London, England, that hosts classical, jazz, and avant-garde music, talks and dance performances. It was opened in 1967, with a concert conducted by Benjamin Britten. The QEH was built along with the smaller Purcell Room as part of Southbank Centre arts complex. Tiny Desk Concerts is a video series of live concerts hosted by NPR Music at the desk of ''All Songs Considered'' host Bob Boilen in Washington, D.C. The first Tiny Desk Concert came about in 2008 after Boilen and NPR Music editor Stephen Thompson left South by Southwest frustrated that they couldn't hear the music over the crowd noise. Thompson joked that the musician, folk singer Laura Gibson, should just perform at Boilen's desk.
