James Lavelle
James Lavelle (born 22 February 1974) is an English electronic musician, record label owner and curator. He founded the Mo'Wax record label in 1992, and has been the only constant member of UNKLE. He directed the 2014 edition of the Meltdown festival on London's South Bank, and curated the 2016 exhibition "Daydreaming with Stanley Kubrick" at Somerset House. He is the subject of 2016 documentary film ''The Man from Mo'Wax''. Career Lavelle founded Mo'Wax in 1992. The label was not co-founded by Tim Goldsworthy, as is often reported. In 1996 Mo' Wax released one of electronic music's most celebrated albums, DJ Shadow's seminal '' Endtroducing.....''. Soon after this Lavelle started work on an album with DJ Shadow under the name UNKLE. Meltdown (festival)
Meltdown is an annual festival held in London, featuring a mix of music, art, performance and film. Meltdown is held in June at Southbank Centre, the arts complex covering and including the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and The Hayward. Each year, the festival chooses an established music artist or act as director of the event, and they pick the performers of their choosing. Previous Meltdown directors have included Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Patti Smith, Lee Scratch Perry, Morrissey, Jarvis Cocker, Nick Cave, Scott Walker, John Peel and Ornette Coleman. Robert Del Naja
Robert Del Naja (; born 21 January 1965), also known as 3D, is a British artist, musician, singer and songwriter. He emerged as a graffiti artist and member of the Bristol collective the Wild Bunch, and later as a founding member and sole consistent member of the band Massive Attack, with which he is still active. In 2009, he received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Music Del Naja started rapping with the Wild Bunch in Bristol in the mid-1980s. He is one of the founding members of Bristol trip hop collective Massive Attack, with Daddy G (Grant Marshall), Tricky (Adrian Thaws) and Andrew Vowles, as a music producer and the only vocalist to feature on all their albums and EPs. Richard File (born 19 November 1975) is a British composer, music producer, and vocalist best known for his work with James Lavelle as part of Unkle. He has also released singles under the alias Forme. Career File joined Unkle in 1999, having remixed "Unreal" (from the debut album '' Psyence Fiction'') with added vocals from Ian Brown. For the subsequent Unkle albums ''Never, Never, Land'' (2004) and '' War Stories'' (2007), File is credited with piano, organ, synthesizer, guitar, and vocals, as well as co-production. ''Never, Never, Land'' is the second album by the British electronic music act UNKLE, released on 22 September 2003. On 24 October 2004 an expanded edition entitled ''Never, Never, Land Revisited'' was released. The original album debuted at No. 71 in Australia. It was promoted by four singles: "Eye for an Eye", "In a State", "Reign" and "Safe in Mind", which was released only as a 12" promo. The tracks on the album contain audio samples from the movies ''The Prophecy'', ''Jacob's Ladder'', ''THX 1138'' and '' The Thin Red Line''. Thomas Edward Yorke (born 7 October 1968) is an English musician and the main vocalist and songwriter of the rock band Radiohead. Michael Louis Diamond (born November 20, 1965), better known as Mike D, is an American rapper, musician, and music producer. He is best known as a founding member of the hip hop group Beastie Boys. Early life Diamond was born in New York City to Harold Diamond, an art dealer, and Hester (née Klein) Diamond, an interior designer and art collector. Richard Ashcroft
Richard Paul Ashcroft (born 11 September 1971) is an English singer and songwriter. He was the lead singer and occasional rhythm guitarist of the alternative rock band The Verve from their formation in 1990 until their original split in 1999. ''Psyence'' is the second album by Japanese musician hide, released on September 2, 1996. It topped the Oricon Albums Chart and was certified double platinum by the RIAJ for sales over 500,000 copies. The album was re-released on the Japan only format SHM-CD on December 3, 2008. Overview Eric Westfall, one of the album's recording and mixing engineers, was told that hide requested to work with him after the musician heard some of Westfall's work and liked the guitar sounds. The version of " Misery" that appears on the album is a remix of the original single. The version of "LEMONed I Scream" heard on the album is different than the one originally included as the B-side to the "Misery" single. Joshua Paul Davis (born June 29, 1972), better known by his stage name DJ Shadow, is an American DJ, songwriter and record producer.
