Københavns Badminton Klub
Københavns Badminton Klub (KBK) is a badminton club in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is one of the oldest and largest badminton clubs in the country and has won the Danish Badminton League 18 times. History Københavns Badminton Klub was founded in 1928. The club dominated the Danish team tournament which was introduced in 1950 until the mid-1970s. The club was for many years based at Randersgade Randersgade (literally "Randers Street") is a street in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark, linking Nordre Frihavnsgade in the south to Strandboulevarden in the north. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Randersgade
Randersgade (literally "Randers Street") is a street in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark, linking Nordre Frihavnsgade in the south to Strandboulevarden in the north. The small square Bopas Plads is located on the corner of Randersgade with Viborggade. History Randersgade was originally called Kalkbrænderivej ("Lime Plant Road") and linked Trianglen with two lime plants. The name Randersgade was introduced for the section from Nøjsomhedsvej to Århusgade in 1886. The new name was in accordance with a naming scheme introduced by Thorvald Krak of naming streets in the area after Danish market towns. In 1904, the name was also adopted for the section north of Vordingborggade, but the two sections were separated by Georg E. Mathiasen's machine factory which had opened in 1902, and were not connected until 1928 when the machine factory was demolished, the section from Nordre Frihavnsgade to Nøjsomhedsvej was also included in the street. Østerbro () (literally, "Eastern Bridge") is one of the 10 official districts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located just north of the city centre, outside the old city gate Østerport which, after it was moved around 1700, used to be located close to present-day Østerport Station. Michael Kjeldsen
Michael Kjeldsen (; born 1962) is a retired male badminton player from Denmark. He is now 1st team coach in The elite club Måløv Badminton Club (MBC). MBC has started their season with two well played matches with Mister Kjeldsen as their coach. Career He won the bronze medal at the 1985 IBF World Championships in men's doubles with Mark Christensen. Erland Kops
Erland Kops (14 January 1937 – 18 February 2017) was a badminton player from Denmark who won numerous major international singles and doubles titles from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. Early life Kops was born in 1937. His uncles were the boxers Ebbe and Poul Kops who both competed at the Summer Olympics. Erland Kops began to play badminton in Københavns Badminton Klub in 1948. He worked for East Asiatic Company in Thailand from 1958 to 1960. Career In 1958, Erland Kops brought an end to eight years of dominance of by Malayan players at the All England Badminton Championships by winning its Men's Singles event. Kops was also among the first Westerners to win major singles titles in the Far East. He combined abundant speed, power, and stamina with impressive shot-making virtuosity.
