Nippes (; ) is the fifth borough (') of Cologne, Germany. Nippes was incorporated into the city of Cologne in 1888 and the district was created in 1975. A large Ford Europe production plant is located in Niehl, the north-eastern part of the district. Nippes borders the Cologne boroughs of Chorweiler to the north, Mülheim to the east, Innenstadt to the south, and Ehrenfeld to the south-west. Lower Left Rhine Railway
The Left Lower Rhine line (german: Linksniederrheinische Strecke) is a main line on the left (western) bank of the Rhine in the lower Rhine region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, running from Cologne to Cleves (Kleve) and formerly via Kranenburg to Nijmegen in the Netherlands. The Cologne–Krefeld section of the line was opened by the ''Cöln-Crefeld Railway Company'' in 1855 and is one of the oldest lines in Germany. The 55 km-long section from Cologne via Neuss to Krefeld is electrified and continuously multi-track. Line S 6 is a S-Bahn line in the Rhein-Ruhr network. It calls, among others, at the cities of Essen, Düsseldorf and Cologne and was the first S-Bahn line in the Rhine-Ruhr network, becoming operational on 28 September 1967 between Ratingen Ost and Düsseldorf-Garath. S11 (Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn)
Line S 11 is a S-Bahn line operated by DB Regio on the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn network. It connects Düsseldorf Airport Terminal with Bergisch Gladbach, running via Düsseldorf Neuss, Dormagen and Cologne. Before 13 December 2009, the service operated from Wuppertal-Vohwinkel in peak time, sharing the Wuppertal-Düsseldorf run with the S8 trains. Normal operation, though, started at Düsseldorf-Wehrhahn. Since the introduction of the new 2010 Schedule the service starts at Düsseldorf Airport Terminal replacing the line S 7 to Düsseldorf Hbf. The former run to Wuppertal-Vohwinkel is now conducted by the S 68. The S11 runs are normally operated with DBAG Class 423 stock, usually with two coupled sets per train. The Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn (german: S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr) is a polycentric and electrically driven S-train network covering the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region in the German federated state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
