Kwasi Etu-Bonde
Kwasi Etu-Bonde is a Ghanaian politician and member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Kintampo North Constituency in the Bono East Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. In 2019, he was ranked the 2nd Best Performing Member of Parliament in the Bono East Region. Early life Etu-Bonde was born in Vume in the Volta Region of Ghana. Education Etu-Bonde studied at the GIMPA (SME, Development and Management) where he received an EMBA in 2004. Career Etu-Bonde is an entrepreneur and CEO of SKY-3 Investments Limited and Sustenance Agro Ventures located in Kintampo. He is a law maker and an agriculturist. Joseph Kwame Kumah
Joseph Kwame Kumah (born 24 January 1974) is a Ghanaian politician who currently serves as the Member of the Parliament of Ghana for the Kintampo North constituency. Early life and education Kumah was born on 24 January 1974 and is Sugliboi in the Bono East Region of Ghana. He achieved a bachelor's degree in education in 1999. In 2010, he graduated with a postgraduate certificate in Public Administration. He later received a Master of Arts degree in Local Government Administration and Organization from the Institute of Local Government Studies. Career Kumah was a house master at the Ghana Education Service. Political career Kumah is a member of the National Democratic Congress. National Democratic Congress (Ghana)
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a social democratic political party in Ghana, founded by Jerry Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001. Following the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which ruled Ghana following the military coup d'état on 31 December 1981, there was pressure from the international community to restore democracy. The NDC was formed as the ruling party ahead of elections in 1992, in which Rawlings was elected president, and in 1996 Rawlings was re-elected as the NDC candidate. Rawlings' second term ended in 2001. The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election, and it was not until the 2008 election, that they regained it with John Atta Mills as its candidate. The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) is a public co-educational university spread over four campuses ( Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Takoradi) and made up of six schools, ten research centers located at Greenhill in Accra, Ghana. The location of GIMPA, Greenhill, was named by Nicholas T. Clerk (1930 – 2012) who served as the Rector of the Institute from 1977 to 1982. The name, "Greenhill", is a reference to the lush greenery and hilly topography of the main campus, as well as its location in Legon which was historically on the periphery of the Ghanaian capital, Accra. Together with 200 state institutions, GIMPA successfully participated in a Public Sector Reform Programme under the auspices of the World Bank and became a self-financing institution as part of the National Institutional Reform Programme in 2001. The election of Members of Parliament (MPs) to the 7th Parliament of the Fourth Republic was held on 7 December 2016. The Speaker is not an elected member of parliament though he/she is qualified to stand for election as such. There are a total of 275 constituencies in Ghana. 45 new constituencies were created prior to the 2012 election. Bono East Region
The Bono East region of Ghana is a new region carved out of the Brong Ahafo region. The capital of the new region is Techiman. This creation of this new region was in fulfillment of a promise made by the New Patriotic Party prior to the 2016 Ghana general election. Upon winning the elections, the President, Nana Akuffo Addo created the Ministry of Regional Reorganization to oversee policy formulation and implementation. In all six new regions are to be created from the existing ten regions of Ghana. The other regions are Bono, Western North, Ahafo, Savannah, North East, and Oti regions. Volta Region
Volta Region (or Volta) is one of Ghana's sixteen administrative regions, with Ho designated as its capital. It is located west of Republic of Togo and to the east of Lake Volta. Divided into 25 administrative districts, the region is multi-ethnic and multilingual, including groups such as the Ewe, the Guan, and the Akan peoples. The Guan peoples include the Lolobi, Likpe, Akpafu, Buem, and Nkonya (now part of Oti region) people. This region was carved out of the Volta Region in December 2018 by the New Patriotic Party. 2016 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2016 to elect a President and Members of Parliament. They had originally been scheduled for 7 November 2016, but the date was later rejected by Parliament. Former foreign minister Nana Akufo-Addo of the opposition New Patriotic Party was elected President on his third attempt, defeating incumbent President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress. The election results were announced on 9 December 2016 due to a delay of voting in two areas. At 19:51 local time, Mahama called Akufo-Addo to concede defeat. At 20:45, the Electoral Commission declared that Akufo-Addo had defeated Mahama in a single round. It was the first time in Ghana's history that a sitting president had been defeated for reelection.
