Kumho Asiana Main Tower
Kumho Asiana Main Tower (금호아시아나 본관) is the headquarters of the Kumho Asiana Group, a South Korean conglomerate. The head office of Air Seoul is in the building. Architecture Unlike the adjacent apartment and office buildings, the Kumho Asiana Main tower is curved. The designers said they were inspired by the image of an airplane in flight. Kumho Asiana is the parent company of Asiana Airlines. The glass and steel façade also sports a digital media board. The art façade is illuminated by 42,000 LED light bulbs to display different designs or works of art by commissioned artists. Kumho Asiana Group is a large South Korean ''Chaebol'' (conglomerate), with subsidiaries in the construction, leisure, and logistics industries. The group is headquartered at the Kumho Asiana Main Tower in Sinmunno 1-ga, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. As of 2014, the largest shareholder is Park Sam-koo, the third son of the company's founder, who stepped down as CEO in 2010. History After World War II, Park In-chon began a taxi service, based out of Geumnamno in Seo-gu, Gwangju. By the 1950s, operations had expanded to include bus and coach services, operating as Gwangju Passenger Service (today, Kumho Buslines). Air Seoul
Air Seoul () is a South Korean low-cost carrier and a subsidiary of Asiana Airlines. The airline is based at Incheon International Airport in Seoul, from which it operates flights to international destinations. It launched operations on 11 July 2016. History Since early 2014, Asiana Airlines had considered launching a second low-cost carrier (LCC) in addition to Air Busan. It initially faced difficulties in proceeding with the project because of the Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crash in July 2013.
