Kremenets Botanical Garden
Kremenets Botanical Garden ( uk, Кременецький ботанічний сад) is located in the city of Kremenets in the Ternopil Oblast (Oblasts of Ukraine, province) of western Ukraine. The garden was founded in 1806, making it one of the oldest botanical gardens in the country. Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from October 12, 1992 declared the Kremenets Botanical Garden as a protected area of national importance, which aims are to preserve, study, acclimate rare and common flora. ''Cephalanthera damasonium'', the white helleborine, is a species of orchid. It is widespread across much of Europe, the Middle East and Asia. ''Cephalanthera damasonium'' is the type species of the genus '' Cephalanthera''. Description ''Cephalanthera damasonium'' is a herbaceous plant, reaching a maximum height of about 60 cm. ''Neottia nidus-avis'', the bird's-nest orchid, is a non-photosynthesis, photosynthetic orchid, native to Europe, Russia and some parts of the Middle East. Description ''Neottia nidus-avis'' grows to tall and each shoot can carry up to 60 flowers. Plants are not in any part green, deriving all their nutrition from a mycorrhizal fungus in the soil/litter, which in turn derives nutrition from the roots of trees.
