Kreetta Onkeli
Kreetta Onkeli (born 1970, Jyväskylä, Finland) is a Finnish writer. Her breakthrough novel "Ilonen talo" (a happy house) was published in 1996, and it received the Kalevi Jäntti award. After that she did not publish any books for seven years. Then she published short stories, columns and three more novels, and after 2013 she has published two books for children. One of them was awarded with Finlandia Junior Award. Before publication of the first novel she was studying dramaturgy in at the Helsinki Theatre Academy, but dropped out to become a freelance writer. In 2016 she enrolled in the nursing school. The first novel Ilonen talo is partly autobiographical, and tells about the writer's mother who was an alcoholist. Jyväskylä () is a city and municipality in Finland in the western part of the Finnish Lakeland. Finlandia Prize
The Finlandia Prize ( fi, Finlandia-palkinto; sv, Finlandiaprisen) is a set of Finnish literary prizes awarded by the Finnish Book Foundation to "celebrate reading and highlight new Finnish first-rate literature." Considered the most prestigious in the nation, they are awarded annually in three categories: fiction, non-fiction and children's and youth literature. The prize was first awarded in 1984. The award sum (as of 2022) is 30,000 euros (originally 100,000 Finnish Marks). Works submitted for nomination may be in Finnish or Swedish and also works in other languages may be considered. Prior to 2010 only works written by citizens of Finland were allowed but the rules were changed when Alexandra Salmela, a citizen of Slovakia, was nominated. Helsinki Theatre Academy
The Theatre Academy ( fi, Teatterikorkeakoulu, sv, Teaterhögskolan) is one of the three academies of the University of the Arts Helsinki and offers education in theatre and dance. It is Finland's largest education provider in its field and, with the exception of acting, the only one in the country. In September 2014, there were 349 students at TeaK: 315 in the bachelor and master programmes, and the remaining 34 were studying for a licentiate or doctoral degree. The current dean of the Theatre Academy is Maarit Ruikka, and the vice-deans are Leena Rouhiainen and Ari Tenhula.
