Kostas Pantelidis (born 11 November 1985, in Athens) is a Greek professional darts player who competes in British Darts Organisation. He has qualified for the 2016 BDO World Darts Championship. Career General In May 2011 Kostas won the Greek National Championships and the Mediterranean Cup. In 2014 he won the Hellinikon Open, beating John Michael in the final. He qualified for the 2016 BDO World Darts Championship, beating Darren Peetoom in England 3–2 in the preliminary round before losing his first round match 3–1 to number 8 seed Geert De Vos in Belgium. British Darts Organisation
The British Darts Organisation (BDO) was a darts organisation founded on 7 January 1973 by Olly Croft. Made up of 66 member counties, it oversaw professional, semi-professional and amateur darts competitions in Britain. The BDO was a founder member of the World Darts Federation in 1976. It also staged a BDO World Darts Championship, World Professional Darts Championship from 1978 to 2020. In the early 1990s, a dispute between Olly Croft and the top darts players over the decline in TV coverage and sponsorship led to an acrimonious Split in darts, split in the game, with the players breaking away to form their own governing body which became the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). 2016 BDO World Darts Championship
The 2016 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was the 39th World Championship organised by the British Darts Organisation, and the 31st staging at the Lakeside Country Club at Frimley Green. The defending men's champion was Scott Mitchell, who won his first world title in 2015, but lost in the Quarter-finals to Richard Veenstra. 2013 world champion Scott Waites won the title by defeating Jeff Smith 7–1 in the final. Lisa Ashton was the defending women's champion, having won the previous two editions, but lost to Trina Gulliver in the Quarter-finals. BDO World Darts Championship
The WDF World Darts Championship is a world championship competition in darts, organised by the World Darts Federation. It would previously organised by the British Darts Organisation (BDO), who held it 43 times from 1978 to 2020. The championship was first held at the Heart of the Midlands Nightclub in the English city of Nottingham. The following year it moved to the Jollees Cabaret Club, Stoke, where it stayed until 1985. From 1986 to 2019, it was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey. In 2020, the tournament was held at Indigo, part of the O2 entertainment district in London. Until the split in darts, it was the only World Darts Championship tournament.
