Korisliiga
The Korisliiga is the top-tier professional basketball league in Finland, comprising the top 12 teams of the country. In its current format, each team plays all other teams two times in the regular season, once at home and once away, for a total of 22 regular season games. The top six teams advances continues to upper stage and the bottom six teams plays lower stage after 22 games, 5 games at home and 5 games at away versus all other teams in stage. The best two teams from lower group joins to playoffs with upper group teams. Playoffs are played best of seven format, except the quarter-finals which are played best of 5 format. Pantterit holds the record for the most league titles won, with 14. The top level Finnish league for women is the Naisten Korisliiga. 2016–17 Korisliiga Season
The 2016–17 Korisliiga season is the 77th season of the top professional basketball league in Finland. The season started on October 5, 2016, and ended on May 13, 2017. Kataja Basket won its second national title after beating Salon Vilpas in the Finals. Teams Bisons Loimaa left the league after the 2015–16 season, because of its financial problems. Korihait was promoted from the second tier First Division after winning the championship there. Regular season Standings Playoffs Playoffs were played between the eight teams of the competition, with a best-of-five series in quarterfinals a best-of-seven series in semifinals and finals and the bronze medal series as a single game. 2021–22 Korisliiga Season
The 2021–22 Korisliiga season was the 82nd season of the top professional basketball league in Finland. Format The twelve teams played two times against each one of the other teams for a total of 22 games. The league splits into two groups (one with the first 6 teams and the other with the last 6 teams) and each team played two games against each one of the teams from the same group (for a total of 10 games). The six teams from the first group and the best two teams from the second group joined the playoffs. The last team would be directly relegated. Teams Ura Basket did not apply for a serial licence for the Men's Korisliiga for season 2021-2022. Ura Basket will be the Division I B team, where the club's own breeders will be able to represent Kaarina basketball at the national level. Salon Vilpas
Vilpas Vikings, also referred to as Salon Vilpas, is a professional basketball club based in Salo, Finland. The team currently plays in the top level Korisliiga. The Vikings are a part of the Salon Vilpas multi-sport club. In 2021, Vilpas won its first Korisliiga championship. Cameron Scott Jones (born May 4, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for Kauhajoki Karhu Basket of the Korisliiga. He played college basketball for Northern Arizona University. High school career Jones attended Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California. He helped Los Alamitos to a 29-5 record in 2006–07 and led his team to the CIF Southern California Regional Division I first round. He averaged a team-best 18.1 points per game and 3.6 rebounds, shooting 54 percent from the field and 81 percent from the line. Kauhajoki Karhu Basket ( en, Kauhajoki Bear Basket), is a Finland, Finnish basketball team from Kauhajoki. The team plays in Korisliiga, the highest tier of Finnish basketball. Teemu Rannikko
Teemu Rannikko (born September 9, 1980) is a Finnish professional basketball player. He is 1.89 m (6' 2 ") tall, and he weighs 88 kg (195 lbs.). He mainly plays at the point guard position. At his peak, he was known as a good scorer and a steady defender. Professional career Born in Turku, Finland, Rannikko made his breakthrough when he transferred to Scavoloni Pesaro, in 2004–05, and he made his EuroLeague debut that season.
