2017–18 Korisliiga Season
The 2017–18 Korisliiga season was the 78th season of the top professional basketball league in Finland. The season started on 28 September 2017 and ended on 18 May 2018. Kataja Basket were the defending champions, but Kauhajoki Karhu achieved their first title ever. Format The eleven teams will play four teams against each one of the other teams for a total of 40 games. The eight best qualified teams will join the playoffs. Teams Espoo United promoted from First Division and no team was relegated. Regular season Standings Playoffs The quarter-finals and semi-finals were played in a best-of-three 1–1–1–1–1 format. The finals were played in a best-of-seven playoff format. Espoo United (basketball)
Espoo United is a professional basketball club based in Espoo, Finland. The team is part of the multi-sports club Espoo, which also had an Espoo United (ice hockey), ice hockey section. The club was founded in 2016 and entered the first division Korisliiga in 2017. However, despite a first season in the top tier, the club was expelled due to financial irregularities. Nokia, Finland
Nokia () is a town and a municipality on the banks of the Nokianvirta River (part of the Kokemäki River) in the region of Pirkanmaa, some west of Tampere in Finland. Kotka
Kotka (; ; la, Aquilopolis) is a city in the southern part of the Kymenlaakso province on the Gulf of Finland. Uusikaupunki Areena ( fi, Pohitullin palloiluhalli) is an indoor basketball sporting arena that is located in Uusikaupunki. It is currently home to the Korihait Finnish professional basketball team, which competes in the Korisliiga. Uusikaupunki (; sv, Nystad, ) is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Southwest Finland region, northwest of Turku and south of Pori. Joensuu
Joensuu (; krl, Jovensuu; ) is a city and municipality in North Karelia, Finland, located on the northern shore of Lake Pyhäselkä (northern part of Lake Saimaa) at the mouth of the Pielinen River (''Pielisjoki'').
