Korea University–Yonsei University Rivalry
The Korea–Yonsei rivalry is the college rivalry between two universities located in Seoul, South Korea, Yonsei University and Korea University. Located within the same city, the campuses are only thirty minutes apart. Korea University's symbol and mascot is the Tiger and Yonsei University's is the Eagle. Hence, match-ups between the two institutions are referred to as "Tigers vs Eagles". Since 1956, the annual Yonsei-Korea (Korea-Yonsei) games have served as the most hotly contested collegiate rivalries in the country. The teams meet each year in five main team sports: football, rugby, baseball, basketball, and ice hockey teams compete against each other. In addition to the annual "friendship games", both universities are members of the Korea University Sports Federation (KUSF) and also regularly compete against each other in the KUSF U-League in football, baseball, basketball and ice hockey. Korean National Football Championship
The Korean National Football Championship ( ko, 전국축구선수권대회) was a South Korean football competition for semi-professional and amateur senior football clubs. It was held annually in the second half of the year. This competition was originally one of major club competitions of South Korean football, but its status was undermined after the professional clubs appeared in South Korea with the foundation of the professional league, K League. Dongdaemun Stadium
Dongdaemun Stadium was a sports complex in Seoul, South Korea and included a multi-purpose stadium, a baseball park and other sports facilities. It was located near Dongdaemun or Great East Gate. The surrounding Dongdaemun market had many vendors selling athletics-related goods. It was demolished in 2008 to make way for the Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park. History Construction on the main athletics stadium and baseball field began on 24 May 1925 and was opened for use on 15 October 1925 as Gyeongseong Stadium. The venue was the main center for sports events in the city, and along with Kirim Stadium in Pyongyang, it was one of the two venues used in the Gyeongsung-Pyongyang inter-city soccer tournament in the 1930s. Korea Under Japanese Rule
Between 1910 and 1945, Korea was ruled as a part of the Empire of Japan. The Harvard–Yale football rivalry is renewed annually with The Game, an American college football match between the Harvard Crimson football team of Harvard University and the Yale Bulldogs football team of Yale University.
