Korday
Korday or Kordoy ( kz, Қордай, translit=Qordai, ; ky, Кордой) is a village in Jambyl Region of Kazakhstan, and the administrative center of that region's Korday District. It has been formerly known under its old Russian name of Georgievka. European route E40, known locally as Highway M-39 (based on the old USSR highway numbering scheme), on its way from Bishkek to Almaty crosses the Chu River at Korday, making Korday border crossing arguably the most important crossing on the Kazakh- Kyrgyz border. (The Kazakhstan point of entry is known as Korday, while its counterpart on the Kyrgyz side is called Akjol, or Akjol- Shu). Buses, passenger vans, and taxis take passengers from the Kyrgyz side of the crossing to Bishkek and from the Kazakh side to the railway junction of Shu, while others go directly between Bishkek and Almaty through the Korday checkpoint. Jambyl Region
Jambyl or Zhambyl Region ( kk, Жамбыл облысы, translit=Jambyl oblysy; russian: Жамбылская область, Zhambylskaya oblast), formerly known as Dzhambul Region (russian: Джамбульская область, Dzhambulskaya Oblast) until 1991, is a region of Kazakhstan. European Route E40
European route E40 is the longest European route, more than long, connecting Calais in France via Belgium, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan, with Ridder in Kazakhstan near the border with Russia and China. A different route connecting Calais and Ridder is about shorter, mostly using the E30 via Berlin-Moscow-Omsk. The E40 differs from that route in order to provide additional direct east-west access to Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan, which have a combined population base approaching 50 million people as of 2021. Sanzhar Sultanov
Sanzhar Sultan (born December 7, 1988, as ''Sanzhar Sultanov'') is a Canadian film director, producer and screenwriter. Early life Sultan was born in the small village of Korday, Kazakhstan. He grew up and studied in at Downside School in England and at Upper Canada College in Canada. In 2007, Sultan moved to New York City to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Career Sultan (back then as Sultanov) founded his own company, Reverson Entertainment, in 2009, with his brother Said. Sultan's first short film was ''Makes The Whole World Kin'', an adaptation of the original short story by O. Henry, starring Paul Calderon. In 2010 he produced and directed his first feature film ''Burning Daylight'' starring Robert Knepper and Calderon in a supporting role. Sultan based the screenplay on three Jack London stories, while the film was set in 1920s New York City. Bishkek ( ky, Бишкек), ), formerly Pishpek and Frunze, is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chüy Region. The region surrounds the city, although the city itself is not part of the region but rather a region-level unit of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is situated near the Kazakhstan–Kyrgyzstan border. Its population was 1,074,075 in 2021. In 1825, the Khanate of Kokand established the fortress of Pishpek to control local caravan routes and to collect tribute from Kyrgyz tribes. Shu, Jambyl
Shu ( kz, Шу / Şu / شۋ), is a city in Jambyl Region of Kazakhstan. The city is located on the Shu River, and is populated by approximately 35,000 people. Transportation Shu is an important transportation hub for the southern Kazakhstan / northern Kyrgyzstan region. This is where the east-west Turkestan-Siberia railway is joined with the railway running north to Kazakhstan's new capital, Nur-Sultan and Petropavl, a city on the Transsiberian railway. There is no direct railroad from Shu to Bishkek serviced by Kazakhstani trains. This means that every day a large number of passengers travelling from Astana to Bishkek for example arrive in Shu by train and transfer to minivans and taxis to continue into Kyrgyzstan. Ford (crossing)
A ford is a shallow place with good footing where a river or stream may be crossed by wading, or inside a vehicle getting its wheels wet. A ford may occur naturally or be constructed. Fords may be impassable during high water. A low-water crossing is a low bridge that allows crossing over a river or stream when water is low but may be treated as a ford when the river is high and water covers the crossing. Minivan (sometimes called simply as van) is a North American car classification for vehicles designed to transport passengers in the rear seating row(s), with reconfigurable seats in two or three rows. The equivalent classification in Europe is MPV (multi purpose vehicle).
