''Korak napred 2 koraka nazad'' (''A Step Forward 2 Steps Backwards'') is a various artists cover album, featuring nine Serbian bands performing cover versions of the popular Yugoslav rock songs, released in 1999. The album was intended to be released for the 10th anniversary of the Radio B92, however, before the album release, the station was taken over by the government. History 1990s The band was formed in January 1993, by bassist and vocalist Dejan Gvozden and guitarist Željko Markuš, who, having performed blues and rock standards in Belgrade cafes, were joined by drummer Dejan Kostić. By the time the band had written their first hit song "Dva metra" ("Two Meters"), for which the music video was directed by Milutin Petrović, they had already featured a new bassist Milan Popović, thus leaving Gvozden on the vocal position only. VIS Simboli are a fictional band from the Yugoslavian film '' Strangler vs. Strangler''. Fictional history The band was formed by Spiridon Kopicl (played by Srđan Šaper, at the time of the film recording member of the band Idoli, which was also known as VIS Idoli) and recorded only one song, "Bejbi, bejbi", inspired by the experience of Kopicl after seeing a television report on a victim of the Belgrade Strangler. Initially, the song only featured the lyrics "Bejbi, bejbi, hoću da te davim" ("Baby, baby, I want to strangle you") repeated for several times. However, encouraged by the previous experience with the Belgrade Strangler, Kopicl tried to live the role of the strangler, moving around Belgrade streets and eventually expanding the song lyrics. "Beogradski davitelj" became a nationwide hit and was broadcast on the popular music radio show host by Sofija Mačkić (Sonja Savić). Veliki Prezir ( sr-cyr, Велики Презир; trans. ''The Great Contempt'') is a Serbian alternative rock band from Vrbas. History 1990s Veliki Prezir was formed on June 1994 by a former Holidays member Vladimir Kolarić "Kole" (vocals, guitar), Slavko Kontra (guitar), Predrag Ilčešin (bass guitar) and Dušan Kuzmanović (drums), choosing the band name by the Jean-Luc Godard film '' Le Mépris''. Soon afterward, they entered the studio and recorded a demo featuring the song "Samo tebe znam" ("You Are The Only One I Know"), at the Novi Sad Do-Re-Mi studio, and during the spring of the following year, a promotional video was recorded for the track, making it an immediate hit on television and radio stations. La Strada (band)
La Strada ( sr-Cyrl, Ла Страда; Italian language, Italian for ''The Road'') was a Serbian and SFRY, former Yugoslav New wave music, new wave and later alternative rock band from Novi Sad. Formed in 1979 by Slobodan Tišma, the band recorded a three-song demo which was often broadcast on Radio Novi Sad. Having changed several lineups and despite having well received live appearances, the band disbanded in 1981. Tišma with at the time La Strada members Zoran Bulatović "Bale" and Ivan Fece "Firchie" formed Luna (Serbian band), Luna. After the Luna disbandment, in 1984 Tišma reformed La Strada with the former La Strada bassist Danijel Stari, former Luna member Jasmina Mitrušić "Mina", guitarist Žolt Horvat and drummer Robert Radić. Disciplin A Kitschme, originally known as Disciplina Kičme ( sr-Cyrl, Дисциплина Кичме, transl. ''Backbone Discipline''), was a Serbian and Yugoslav and, for a period of time, British rock band, formed in Belgrade in 1981. The band was noted for their unique and energetic sound, with bass guitar as the primary instrument and drawing inspiration from punk rock, funk, blues, jazz fusion, Motown, rap, the works of Jimi Hendrix, Yugoslav 1970s progressive and hard rock bands, and in the later phases of their career from jungle and drum and bass. Disciplina Kičme was formed by bass guitarist and vocalist Dušan Kojić "Koja" as one of the two spin-offs of the seminal Yugoslav new wave band Šarlo Akrobata, the other being Ekatarina Velika. Manitou (), akin to the Iroquois ''orenda'', is the spiritual and fundamental life force among Algonquian groups in the Native American theology. Popcycle
Popcycle was a Serbian pop rock band from Bečej, formed as a faction of the popular Serbian band Eva Braun. History Formation, rise to prominence (1994-1996) The first signs of the band existence were noted in the magazine '' Ritam'' (''Rhythm'') on early Summer of 1994, where the rock journalist Bojana Žikic described the band as "Gordon Gano meets Stipe and Buckley". The band was formed by Eva Braun members Milan Glavaški (guitar, vocals) and Ljubomir Rajić (drums), who, having performed as a cover band under the stodgy name Gervasius Twinkleminkleson (the name of an Alan Ford comic book character), were joined by Goran Obradović (bass). While awaiting for the Eva Braun magnum opus, the album ''Pop music'', featuring the song "Kopija" ("The Copy"), a hit song originally written for Popcycle, and dissatisfied with the atmosphere within group, the three focused their creativity on Popcycle, frequently performing live and gaining a loyal fan base.
