Konza is a small town in Machakos County, Kenya. It is located south-east of Nairobi, the Kenyan capital. Machakos town, the county capital, is located 35 kilometres northeast of Konza. Konza is located in Kimutwa location of Central division of Machakos County. Konza is part of Machakos municipality and Machakos Town Constituency. Transport Konza is a junction on the Kenya Railways network. Konza is located along Mombasa - Nairobi railway, and branch line to Magadi diverts at Konza. Machakos County
Machakos County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya, which came into being because of the devolved system of governance occasioned by the 2010 constitution of Kenya. The country's first administrative headquarters are in Machakos Town, which is the largest town in the county. The county had a population of 1,421,932 as of 2019. The county borders Nairobi and Kiambu counties to the west, Embu to the north, Kitui to the east, Makueni to the south, Kajiado to the south west, and Muranga and Kirinyaga to the north west. Machakos
Machakos, also called Masaku is a town in Kenya, southeast of Nairobi. It is the capital of the Machakos County, Kenya. Its population is rapidly growing and was 150,041 as of 2009 and Machakos County had a population of 1,421,932 as of 2019. People who live here are mostly of the Akamba ethnicity. Machakos is surrounded by hilly terrain, with a high number of family farms. History Machakos was established in 1887 by Sakshi Shah, ten years before Nairobi. Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC), also Kenya Railways (KR) is the national railway of Kenya. Established in 1977, KR is a state corporation. History The original Uganda Railway was transformed into the East African Railways and Harbours Corporation (EAR&H) after World War I. Konza Technopolis, previously called Konza Technology City, is a large technology hub planned by the government of Kenya to be built 64 km south of Nairobi on the way to the port city of Mombasa. It is marketed as a key driver of Kenya's national development plan, known as Kenya Vision 2030. As of January 2019, the project appeared to be far behind schedule.
