Konstsamfundet
Föreningen Konstsamfundet (lit. "The Art Foundation Association") is a Finland, Finnish association with the goal of supporting the culture of the Swedish-speaking population of Finland, Swedish-speaking minority of Finland. It was founded in 1940 by ''vuorineuvos'' Amos Anderson, a newspaper publisher and a patron of the arts who bequeathed his entire fortune to Konstsamfundet. Konstsamfundet owns and operates the Amos Anderson Art Museum in Helsinki, the largest private art museum in Finland. It is also the sole owner of the Swedish-language ''Hufvudstadsbladet'' newspaper in Finland. Hufvudstadsbladet
''Hufvudstadsbladet'' (abbr. ''Hbl'') is the highest-circulation Swedish-language newspaper in Finland. Its headquarters is located in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The name of the newspaper translates approximately into "Journal of the Capital", ''hufvudstad'' (modern spelling ''huvudstad'') being the 19th-century Swedish spelling for ''capital''. The newspaper is informally also called ''Husis'' or ''Höblan''. History and profile ''Hufvudstadsbladet'' was founded by in 1864, and the first edition was published on 5 December the same year. The founder was August Schauman. During the late 19th century, the paper was the highest-circulation newspaper in Finland. In 1920 the company ''Hufvudstadsbladets Förlag och Tryckeri AB'' was founded to operate the newspaper. Amos Anderson
Amos Valentin Anderson (3 September 1878, Kimito, Finland – 2 April 1961, Kimito, Finland) was the owner of Finland's largest Swedish-language newspaper, Hufvudstadsbladet, and a patron of the arts. Amos Anderson grew up in the Southwestern Archipelago of Finland and studied business in Turku. He started his career in insurance, and spent two years in continental Europe studying finance and insurance. He started in press in 1905 by publishing a professional magazine for the insurance sector. His career with daily newspapers started in 1911, and in 1909 he founded a printing house together with Viktor Ek and J. O. Wasastjerna. Anderson was a Member of Parliament in 1922–1927 and a presidential elector in 1937, 1940 and 1943. The story has it that Amos Anderson had two sides to his personality: by day he was a determined businessman, and by night sensitive and sociable patron of the arts and culture. Amos Anderson Art Museum
Amos Rex is an art museum named after publisher and arts patron Amos Anderson located in Lasipalatsi, Mannerheimintie, Helsinki, Finland. It opened in 2018 and rapidly reached international popularity, attracting more than 10,000 visitors in a matter of weeks. History In 2013, the museum announced plans to build a subterranean annex under the Lasipalatsi plaza, located near the museum's premises on Yrjönkatu. The annex was estimated to cost 50 million euros and to also use facilities above the ground in the Lasipalatsi building. The Helsinki City Board decided to reserve the plot for the museum in December 2013. The funding was provided by the Finnish-Swedish arts foundation Konstsamfundet. The museum plan was unanimously approved by the Helsinki City Council in May 2014 and the new annex was scheduled to open in 2017. Vuorineuvos
Vuorineuvos ("mining counselor", literally Finnish for "mountain counselor"; sv, bergsråd) is a Finnish honorary title granted by the President of Finland to leading figures in industry and commerce. The title is honorary and has no responsibilities and no privileges. All Finnish titles are non-hereditary. The only title of equal rank is ''valtioneuvos''. Origin and history The vuorineuvos title originated in late 18th-century Sweden when mining played a major role in the economy, including in Swedish-held Finland. During that era five Finns were awarded the title. From 1809 to 1917 in the semi-autonomous, Russian-ruled Grand Duchy of Finland a further 19 titles were awarded.
