Konstruktivits
Konstruktivits is a British industrial band. Formed in 1982, they were mostly active in the 1980s, with recording activity continuing until today. The band was formed by Glenn Michael Wallis from his previous band Heute, a krautrock-influenced trio. 1990s members were Glenn Michael Wallis, Mark Crumby, Lawrence Burton, Joseph Ahmed, and R. Alcapone Shiells. Glenn Michael Wallis worked as musician on early releases by Whitehouse, he worked solo under the name of Vagina Dentata Organ with permission by Jordi Valls, and he was member of the band projects Dark Union, Heute, The Murray Fontana Orchestra as a side-project of Hafler Trio. Mark Crumby was member of the bands Ghost Actor, Mitra Mitra, Oppenheimer MKII, and Statik. In 2000, Wallis changed the band's name to Konstruktivist, with the spelling Konstruktivists also being used. During the last years Wallis and Crumby run Konstruktivists as a duo. Sterile Records
The Sterile Records record label was formed in London in 1979 by Nigel Ayers and Caroline K of the post-industrial music group Nocturnal Emissions. With a background in the mail art networks, their intention was to create and promote a new form of music. Sterile Records’ approach was a combination of the experiments of musique concrète and Fluxus combined with the critical eye of conceptual art and the spontaneity and energy of punk rock. The dark humour of industrial music and the incomprehensible nonsense of various ultra-leftist political fractions were an essential part of the mix. Sterile Records used both commercial and non-commercial media to deliver anti-capitalist messages, multi-coloured noise and information overload. Third Mind Records
''Third Mind Records'' was a British independent record label, founded in February 1983 by Gary Levermore. Name The label derived its name from the book ''The Third Mind'', a work compiled by Beat Generation author William S. Burroughs and artist Brion Gysin using the cut-up technique. History ''Third Mind'' originated from the group and fanzine ''Tone Death'' that Levermore had founded in the middle of 1982 together with two friends. During that time Levermore started contacting bands he had discovered through diverse media and on concerts which would finally be featured in ''Tone Death''. The Elephant Table Album
''The Elephant Table Album: a compilation of difficult music'' was a 1983 compilation album, released on Xtract Records. The double album was compiled by music journalist Dave Henderson following a series of articles by him in ''Sounds'', the British music paper. It was reissued on CD by the same label in 1989, but with the tracks sourced from the vinyl release rather than the master tape, and the number of tracks reduced from 21 to 17. The tracks consisted of a selection by lesser-known experimental, industrial and electronic artists of the period. Industrial Music
Industrial music is a genre of music that draws on harsh, mechanical, transgressive or provocative sounds and themes. AllMusic defines industrial music as the "most abrasive and aggressive fusion of rock and electronic music" that was "initially a blend of avant-garde electronics experiments (tape music, musique concrète, white noise, synthesizers, sequencers, etc.) and punk provocation". The term was coined in the mid-1970s with the founding of Industrial Records by members of Throbbing Gristle and Monte Cazazza. Whitehouse (band)
Whitehouse were an English band formed in 1980, largely credited for the founding of the power electronics subgenre of industrial music. History and personnel The name Whitehouse was chosen both in mock tribute to the British morality campaigner Mary Whitehouse, and in reference to a British pornographic magazine of the same name. The group's founding member and sole constant was William Bennett. He began as a guitarist for Essential Logic. He wrote of those early years, "I often fantasised about creating a sound that could bludgeon an audience into submission." The Hafler Trio is an English conceptual, performance and sound art collaborative between Andrew M. McKenzie, the only permanent member, and guest sound artists, performers, and/or musicians. Kommissar Hjuler (born Detlev Hjuler; 1967) works as a sound recordist in the field of Noise and Post-industrial music, visual artist, film maker and police officer at Flensburg, a town on the German border with Denmark. RRRecords is a record label and used and new record shop based in Lowell, Massachusetts.
