Kojo Asemanyi
Kojo Asemanyi is a Ghanaian politician and member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Gomoa East Constituency in the Central Region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party. An Elder of the Church of Pentecost and a Christian, he is a father. He is currently the Mayor of Cape Coast. Early life and education Asemanyi was born on 10 September 1979 and hails from Gomoa Buduatta in the Central Region of Ghana. He had his Higher National Diploma from the Cape Coast Polytechnic. He had his bachelor's degree in Management Studies from the University of Cape Coast in 2011. He further had his master's degree in Public Administration in the University of Phoenix in Arizona in USA. Career Asemanyi worked at the US Postal Service as a Rural Carrier Associate in Delaware in USA from 2013 to 2016. He was also a Program Officer at World Vision Ghana from 2005 to 2008. The United Progressive Party is a political party in Ghana. Its founders were Akwasi Addai Odike and Dean Djokoto. It received its final certificate of registration from the Electoral Commission of Ghana in May 2015. The party contested the 2016 Ghanaian general election but failed to win a single seat. Prior to that election, Addai Odike had been suspended for breaching the party's constitution in appointing his own son as the acting General Secretary. The Ghana Union Movement is a political party in Ghana. It was founded by Christian Kwabena Andrews who is also the founder of the Life Assembly Worship Center in Accra. During the launch of the party, he declared that he is "new Kwame Nkrumah" and also that the "spirit of Nkrumah is back." National Democratic Congress (Ghana)
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a social democratic political party in Ghana, founded by Jerry Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001. Following the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which ruled Ghana following the military coup d'état on 31 December 1981, there was pressure from the international community to restore democracy. The NDC was formed as the ruling party ahead of elections in 1992, in which Rawlings was elected president, and in 1996 Rawlings was re-elected as the NDC candidate. Rawlings' second term ended in 2001. The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election, and it was not until the 2008 election, that they regained it with John Atta Mills as its candidate. 2020 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. Former President John Dramani Mahama says he will contest the results. The NPP lost its majority in the parliament, winning just as many seats as the opposition NDC, resulting in a hung parliament with a single independent (Andrew Asiamah Amoako) in the position of kingmaker. Convention People's Party
The Convention People's Party (CPP) is a Socialism, socialist political party in Ghana based on the ideas of the first President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah. The CPP was formed in June 1949 after Nkrumah broke away from the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC). Nkrumah was the then appointed Secretaty General of the UGCC when he was arrested by the leader of the UGCC and imprisoned for an alleged thought, plans and power against Kwame Nkrumah's leadership. Kwame Nkrumah then formed the Convention People's Party with support of some UGCC members and had a purpose for self governance.
