Knut Och Alice Wallenbergs Stiftelse
Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW) ( sv, Knut och Alice Wallenbergs Stiftelse) is a Swedish public and private foundation formed in 1917 by Knut Agathon Wallenberg and his wife Alice Wallenberg. It was created to support research in the natural sciences, technology and medicine by awarding long-term grants to basic research of the highest international class. Governance From its start in 1917 to 1971 the board members of the Foundation were mostly from the Wallenberg family. In 1971 a Council of Principals was established which changed the membership pattern, and the academics began to serve as board members of the KAW. Then politicians from the Centre Party were also assigned to the board, including Christina Rogestam, Anders Dahlgren, and Thorbjörn Fälldin. Knut Agathon Wallenberg
Knut Agathon Wallenberg (19 May 1853 – 1 June 1938) was a Swedish banker and politician, he was also a Knight of the Order of the Seraphim. Wallenberg was Minister for Foreign Affairs 1914–1917, and member of the Riksdag's ''Första kammaren'' (the Upper house) 1907–1919. Together with his wife, he created Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, which is one of the main contributors to the private university Stockholm School of Economics. Wallenberg was one of the founders of the Stockholm School of Economics, and is also seen as the founder of the community of Saltsjöbaden and an associated railroad. Early life Wallenberg was born on 19 May 1853 in Katarina Parish, Stockholm, the son of André Oscar Wallenberg (1816–1886) and his first wife Catharina Wilhelmina Andersson (1826–1855). Anders Dahlgren
Anders Dahlgren (23 December 1925 – 24 March 1986) was a Swedish politician. He was a member of the Centre Party. He served at the Riksdag (lower chamber) 1961–1970, and of the unicameral Riksdag 1970 to his death in 1986. From 1982 to 1985 he was the Second Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag, and from 1985 to 1986 the Third Deputy Speaker. He was minister for agriculture in the Government of Sweden from 8 October 1976, to 18 October 1978, and from 12 October 1979 to 8 October 1982. He was also acting minister for defence between 5 May 1981 and 22 May 1981. Thorbjörn Fälldin
Nils Olof Thorbjörn Fälldin (24 April 1926 – 23 July 2016) was a Swedish politician. He was Prime Minister of Sweden in three non-consecutive cabinets from 1976 to 1982, and leader of the Swedish Centre Party from 1971 to 1985. On his first appointment in 1976, he was the first non-Social Democrat Prime Minister for 40 years and the first since the 1930s not to have worked as a professional politician since his teens. He was also the last Prime Minister to not be from the Social Democrats or Moderate Party.
