Klefe
Klefe is a small town in the Ho Municipal District of the Volta Region of Ghana. It is in the southern part of the Volta Region. The town is set on a hill and there are trails for hiking. Location and economy Klefe is about 2 kilometres west of Ho. About 2.8 kilometres to its south is Hoviefe. Akrofu and Agove are villages to the west and Ziavi is the nearest village north. Klefe also shares a boundary with Sokode It is at 248 metres above sea level. With a huge deposit of sedimentary rocks, Klefe is popularly called "Stone city". This is because of the secondary economic activity of the youth which is Schist (flat stone) mining. The metamorphic rocks are usually used for tiling walls and floors. History The inhabitants of Klefe were the first to settle on modern day Ho Bankoe but migrated to the mountains due to the marshy nature of the land. Japhet Ledo
Japhet Yao Ledo is a former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (E.P. Church). He served as moderator of the church from January 1993 to January 2001, when he was replaced by Livingstone Komla Buama. Ledo hails from Klefe in the Volta Region of Ghana, just as his successor Buama. After retiring as Moderator, he served in various capacities including as Chairman of the Evangelical Presbyterian University Fund Raising Committee. Volta Region
Volta Region (or Volta) is one of Ghana's sixteen administrative regions, with Ho designated as its capital. It is located west of Republic of Togo and to the east of Lake Volta. Divided into 25 administrative districts, the region is multi-ethnic and multilingual, including groups such as the Ewe, the Guan, and the Akan peoples. The Guan peoples include the Lolobi, Likpe, Akpafu, Buem, and Nkonya (now part of Oti region) people. This region was carved out of the Volta Region in December 2018 by the New Patriotic Party. Akrofu
Akrofu is predominantly a farming community in the Ho Municipality of Volta Region, Ghana. It is noted for the production of rice, okro, cassava and garri. Geography Akrofu is about 15 km from Ho, the Volta regional capital. It has Sokode to the south west, Klefe, Ziavi, and Hlefi to the south east, Wegbe Kpalime to the North West and Bame to the North East. Akrofu is made up of two major communities; Xeviwofe and Agove with Xeviwofe being the seat of the Fiaga (Paramount Chief). The Regions of Ghana constitute the first level of subnational government administration within the Republic of Ghana. As of 2020, there are currently sixteen regions, which are further divided for administrative purposes into 260 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (or MMDA's). The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of region. There are 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (or MMDA's). History The districts of Ghana were re-organized in 1988/1989 in an attempt to decentralize the government and to assist in development. The reform of the late 1980s subdivided the regions of Ghana into 110 districts, where local district assemblies should deal with the local administration. By 2006, an additional 28 districts were created by splitting some of the original 110, bringing their number up to 138. Ho Municipal District
Ho Municipal District is one of the eighteen districts in Volta Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly on 10 March 1989 when it was known as Ho District, until the southern part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on 13 August 2004 to create Adaklu-Anyigbe District; thus the remaining part has been retained as Ho District.
