Kjell Bartholdsen
Kjell Bartholdsen (2 October 1938 in Hammerfest – 6 November 2009) was a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone), that lived in Bodø from 1968. Career Bartholdsen was a piano tuner by profession, and he was also a central person on the northern Norwegian jazz scene. His instruments were tenor saxophone, and clarinet (in his early career). He played at Moldejazz in 1974, Nattjazz in 1975, Kongsberg Jazzfestival in 1976, Vossajazz in 1978 as well as several times in the Festival of North Norway and with Concerts Norway Concerts Norway ( no, Rikskonsertene) was established in 1967 on the initiative of the Arts Council Norway ( no, Norsk kulturråd), with its main purpose described as follows: "Concerts Norway is to make living music of high artistic quality acces .... Hammerfest (; sme, Hámmerfeasta ) is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. Hammerfest is the northernmost town in the world with more than 10,000 inhabitants. Kongsberg Jazz Festival or Kongsberg Jazzfestival is an international jazz festival that has been held annually in Kongsberg, Norway, since 1964. Henning Gravrok
Henning Gravrok (born 19 March 1948 in Tovik, Northern Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone) and music teacher, raised in Harstad and educated as teacher. Since 1975 he has been central to the Tromsø and Bodø jazz scenes. Career In Tromsø, he played in the bands "Hei og Hå" (1975–79) and "Heracleum" (1976–78), "Inge Kolsvik Quartet" (1979–80), "Fusion Band" (1980–81), "Kjell Svendsen Quintet" (1981–83), "Øystein Norvoll Quintet" and "Synk" (1983–84). In recent years he has taken part in the Northern Norwegian band "Bossa Nordpå", and participated in Marit Sandvik Band. His debut recording was as a member of Thorgeir Stubø Quintet (1981). In Bodø he led "Bodø Big Band" for a period and the "Ad Lib Jazzklubb", Gravrok has written ''Minner om i morgen'' (1991) which was awarded "Stubøprisen" (1991). Stubøprisen
Stubøprisen (an Award initiated in 1989, in memory of the late guitar virtuoso and Northern Norway Enthusiast Thorgeir Stubø) is the highest honor given to a Northern Norwegian jazz musician. The award is given every second year to a person who makes or has made a special contribution to the Northern Norwegian Jazz Scene by the Thorgeir Stubø Memorial Fund (established 1987). The idea behind Thorgeir Stubø Memorial Fund is to honor a great jazz musician and simultaneously stimulate Northern Norwegian culture. The Stubøprisen Winners is awarded a grant of NKR 15 000 (2011) and a statuette created by the artist and sculptor Karl Erik Harr. The Arctic Arts Festival ( no, Festspillene i Nord-Norge) is a festival based in Harstad, Norway. It was first held in 1965, and consists of music, theatre and art performances. The festival lasts one week and is held in June. The Arctic Arts Festival is active throughout the year and has arranged annual festivals in Harstad since 1965. Vossajazz
Vossajazz or Vossa Jazz (established 19 December 1973) is an international jazz festival in Voss, Norway, which takes place annually during the week before Easter, and which also includes concerts throughout the year. The festival has been led by Trude Storheim since August 2007. History The first festival in 1974 was held the same weekend as the World Cup in Alpine skiing at Voss. The idea was that ski and jazz fit together. Since 1986 the festival has always taken place during the palm weekend. From 2007, the festival director has been Trude Storheim. Nattjazz
Bergen International Jazz Festival or Nattjazz, is one of the largest jazz festivals of Norway. The festival has a musical profile with an emphasis on ethnic and contemporary jazz. It is held annually in late May, coinciding with Festspillene i Bergen, and is located at Verftet in Bergen. Biography The festival was arranged for the first time in 1972 at ''Håndverkeren'' in Bergen (now closed). It moved to ''Studentsenteret'' in 1978 (now demolished and rebuilt), and eventually to ''USF Verftet'' in 1994. In 2012 Nattjazz was held in different localities in ''Vågsbunnen'' because of the reconstructions of ''USF Verftet''. During the course of the festival most concerts are held indoors, but with some outdoor concerts too. The festival has also collaborated with other events, such as Festspillene i Bergen in Grieghallen.
