Nattjazz
Bergen International Jazz Festival or Nattjazz, is one of the largest jazz festivals of Norway. The festival has a musical profile with an emphasis on ethnic and contemporary jazz. It is held annually in late May, coinciding with Festspillene i Bergen, and is located at Verftet in Bergen. Biography The festival was arranged for the first time in 1972 at ''HÃ¥ndverkeren'' in Bergen (now closed). It moved to ''Studentsenteret'' in 1978 (now demolished and rebuilt), and eventually to ''USF Verftet'' in 1994. In 2012 Nattjazz was held in different localities in ''VÃ¥gsbunnen'' because of the reconstructions of ''USF Verftet''. During the course of the festival most concerts are held indoors, but with some outdoor concerts too. The festival has also collaborated with other events, such as Festspillene i Bergen in Grieghallen. Øyvind Hegg-Lunde
Øyvind Hegg-Lunde (born 12 February 1982 in Lærdal, Norway) is a Norwegian drummer and composer, raised in Borgund, Lærdal, but today resides in Bergen. He is known from collaborations with José González (singer), José Gonzalez, Junip, Arve Henriksen, Ståle Storløkken, Frode Haltli, Trygve Seim, Per Jørgensen, Terje Isungset, Håkon Kornstad, Kurt Johannessen, Stein Urheim, The Megaphonic Thrift, Odin Staveland, Odd Martin Skålnes, Erlend O. Nødtvedt, Nils Petter Molvær, Eivind Aarset and Marilyn Mazur. Career Hegg-Lunde holds a Master's degree in jazz/improvised music at Griegakademiet and the Högskolan för scen och musik in Gothenburg. Mari Kvien Brunvoll
Mari Kvien Brunvoll (born 20 February 1984 in Molde, Norway) is a Norwegian folk and jazz singer who has over the past few years attracted attention at festivals internationally with her solo concept, where the voice is complemented by small electronic and acoustic instruments in a sound inspired by jazz, pop and folk music. She is the daughter of Lawyer Knut Anker Brunvoll (b. 1945) and jazz singer and pianist Inger Johanne Brunvoll (born Kvien in 1945), and the younger sister of songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Ane Brun (b. 1976) and photographer Bjørn Brunvoll (b. 1973). Career Brunvoll is a 2010 graduate of the Grieg Academy in Bergen. She won the Vital Award at the Nattjazz, Bergen 2009. Her first appearance at Moldejazz was in 2010 with her solo project. Agbaland Nattjazz 2015
Agbaland (initiated 2012 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian trio comprising the veterans Terje Isungset and Per Jørgensen expanding their duo project 'Agbalagba Daada' with the organist Sigbjørn Apeland, known from his works with Berit Opheim 1982. Biography Agbaland approaches the music in a playful manner giving the audience a sense that anything can happen, whether it is wild and noisy, or meditative and ceremonial. Terje Isungset is among the world's most creative and innovative percussionist, and has in recent years been working a lot with ice as a material for musical instrument. Kjetil Møster
Kjetil Traavik Møster (born 17 June 1976) is a Norwegian jazz musician ( tenor and soprano saxophones, clarinet and bass clarinet) and composer, known from bands like The Core, Ultralyd, Brat, Zanussi 5, and performance with Chick Corea at Moldejazz 2000, later released on CD. He has also made his mark with experimental performances at the interface between electronic based fri-rock and jazz. Helge Lien
Helge Lien (born 23 April 1975) is a Norwegian jazz pianist, composer and band leader. He has in recent years also developed a passion for photography and digital processing of images and has passion for powerful melancholy, dynamics and detail. Education Lien attended Stange High School 1991 and earned his Examen artium in 1994, before taking up musical studies at Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. He got a Cand.mag. in 1998 under guidance of Mikhail Alperin, known as pianist of the Moscow Art Trio and from solo performances and recordings, and did postgraduate studies with the group Tri O'Trang culminating with cand.musicae exam in 2001. Tord Gustavsen
Tord Gustavsen (born 5 October 1970) is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer. He tours extensively worldwide, and he has been a bandleader for a trio, ensemble and quartet at various times, all bearing his name. Early life Gustavsen was born on 5 October 1970 in Oslo and raised in rural Hurdal, Akershus. He "grew up playing church music". Later life and career Gustavsen holds a bachelor's degree (mellomfag) in psychology at the University of Oslo, before he attended the Trondheim Musikkonsevatorium for a three years study of jazz (1993–96). Thereafter he became a graduate ( Cand.philol.) of musicology at the University of Oslo, where he was guest teacher of jazz piano and theory (1998–2002). Bergen International Festival ( no, Festspillene i Bergen) is an annual international music and cultural festival in Bergen, Norway. Biography The Bergen International festival is the largest festival in the Nordic countries in its genre and has a large number of activities in music, dance, literature, visual arts, folklore, etc. The festival is held over fourteen days from the end of May to the start of June and is located in numerous places like the Grieg Hall, Haakon's Hall, Troldhaugen, Lysøen, Siljustøl as well as streets and town squares of Bergen. Marius Neset
Marius Søfteland Neset (born 2 January 1985 in Os, Hordaland) is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone) living in Copenhagen. He is known from collaborations within the jazz bands "People Are Machines", "Kaktusch", "JazzKamikaze" and Django Bates projects "StoRMChaser" big band and " Human Chain". He is the son of music teachers guitarist Terje Neset (b. 1959) and pianist Anne Leni Søfteland Sæbø (b. 1961), and the brother of the vocalist Anna Søfteland Neset (b. 1987) flautist Ingrid Søfteland Neset (b. 1992).
