Kirkkojärvi (Espoo)
Kirkkojärvi is a drained lake in Espoo, between Espoon keskus and Kauniainen Kauniainen (; sv, Grankulla) is a small town and a municipality of inhabitants () in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Finland. It is surrounded and enclaved by the City of Espoo, in the Capital Region of Greater Helsinki. Kauniainen was founded ..., by Turunväylä. Kirkkojärvi was drained during the construction of Tarvontie in the 1950s, but still today becomes a lake-like pool of water during the early spring floods. Espoonjoki begins from Kirkkojärvi, where Glimsinjoki and Glomsinjoki merge. The Kirkkojärvi neighbourhood has been built on the previous Kirkkojärvi area south of the Turunväylä (Finnish national road 1). The area north of Turunväylä is mostly bushy swampland. There is a small path on the northern side of the swampland by an Ikea store. Valtatie 1 has lowered 1-2 meters around Kirkkojärvi since its construction. Espoo
Espoo (, ; sv, Esbo) is a city and municipality in the region of Uusimaa in the Republic of Finland. It is located on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland, bordering the cities of Helsinki, Vantaa, Kirkkonummi, Vihti and Nurmijärvi while surrounding the enclaved town of Kauniainen. Espoon Keskus
Espoon keskus (Finnish for ''Espoo Centre'', sv, Esbo centrum) is the central district of Espoo, the second biggest city of Finland and the administrative centre with the city hall of Espoo. The areas of Kiltakallio, Kirkkojärvi, Saarniraivio, Suna, Suvela and Tuomarila belong to Espoon keskus. To the east, Espoon keskus borders the city of Kauniainen, an enclave within the city of Espoo. Even though Espoon keskus is located at the approximate geographical centre of the city, it is not a major population or economic center. In fact, Espoon keskus has had a negative reputation among the people living in Espoo in the past. At the moment the city of Espoo is making a serious effort to give Espoon keskus a new look. Kauniainen
Kauniainen (; sv, Grankulla) is a small town and a municipality of inhabitants () in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Finland. It is surrounded and enclaved by the City of Espoo, in the Capital Region of Greater Helsinki. Kauniainen was founded by a corporation in 1906, AB Grankulla, that parcelled land and created a suburb for villas; Kauniainen received the status of a market town in 1920, the Finnish name in 1949 and the title of ''kaupunki'' ("city, town") in 1972. The municipal taxation rate in Kauniainen is the lowest in Finland (%), which has made the city attractive to high-income families. This in turn makes the average income generally high, making it possible to keep the taxation rate low without compromising the service to the inhabitants. The Finnish national road 1 ( fi, Valtatie 1 or fi, Ykköstie; sv, Riksväg 1) is the main route between the major cities of Helsinki and Turku in southern Finland.
