Kiprotich
Kiprotich is a Kalenjin name, common in parts of Kenya and Uganda inhabited by the Kalenjin people. It stems from the term "Rot Tich" which means cattle moving in from pasture which is between 5 PM and 6 PM. The prefix ''Kip-'', means that the bearer is a male and was born while cattle where moving in from pasture. It is closely related to Kiprono. Its feminine counterpart is Cherotich. Stephen Kiprotich
Stephen Kiprotich ("KIP-roh-tich", born 27 February 1989) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. He is an Olympic marathon champion, having won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Kiprotich also won a gold at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. He is the second person, after Gezahegne Abera, to follow an Olympic marathon title with a world championship gold medal for the same event. Kiprotich became 2012 Olympic champion with a winning time of 2:08:01 in hot, sunny, and humid conditions. This was the first Olympic medal for Uganda since 1996, the first Olympic gold medal for the country since 1972, and the country's first ever medal in the marathon. Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich (born 15 March 1982) is a Kenyan professional athlete who specialises in long-distance running, competing in events ranging from 10 km to the marathon. He was the bronze medallist in the marathon at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He is the former world record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:03:23, which he set at the 2013 Berlin Marathon. He has run under 2 hours 4 minutes for the marathon on four occasions. Kipsang is a double winner of the Frankfurt Marathon (2010 and 2011) and has also won the London Marathon twice (2012 and 2014), New York Marathon (2014), and Tokyo Marathon (2017). The Vienna City Marathon is an annual marathon race over the classic distance of 42.195 km held in Vienna, Austria since 1984. History The first edition was held on with a total of 794 competitors. The 2005 Saint Silvester Road Race ( pt, Corrida Internacional de São Silvestre de 2005) was the 81st edition of the Saint Silvester Road Race and held in São Paulo, Brazil, on December 31, 2005.
