This is about 5 miles (8 km) north of Woodside Road (SR84). While ''Sky Londa'' is the spelling approved by the U.S. Board of Geographic Names, a frequently used state government variant spelling is Skylonda. The variant spelling is used on a Caltrans sign for southbound SR35 north of SR84 and on the name of a CDF Fire station in the community. Oscar William Kapell (September 20, 1922 – October 29, 1953) was an American classical pianist. ''The Washington Post'' described him as "America's first great pianist", while ''The New York Times'' described him as "one of the last century's great geniuses of the keyboard" and ''Times'' critic and pianist Michael Kimmelman, writing in ''The New York Review of Books'', remarked: "Was there any greater American pianist born during the last century than Kapell? BCPA Flight 304/44 was a scheduled flight operated by British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines from Sydney, Australia, to Vancouver, Canada, with scheduled stops at Fiji, Canton Island, Honolulu and San Francisco. On 29 October 1953, the flight was conducted by a Douglas DC-6 named ''Resolution'' and registered in Australia as VH-BPE. Interstate 280 (I-280) is a major north–south auxiliary Interstate Highway in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve
The Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is located on the western slopes of historic Kings Mountain in Woodside, California. This preserve was established with a $2 million gift from the Save the Redwoods League. Purisima Creek and several of its tributaries flow through the preserve. The main entrance for the Purisima Open Space is off the Skyline Boulevard section of State Route 35. The park is notable for its tall coastal redwoods, along with coastal scrub and hardwood forests of tanoak, madrones, and Douglas firs. The preserve overlooks Half Moon Bay, and has over of trails for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. The popular Redwood Trail is wheelchair accessible.
