Kincorth Academy
Kincorth Academy was an Aberdeen City Council secondary school in Kincorth, Aberdeen, Scotland. Local primary feeder schools were: Abbotswell Primary, Charleston Primary, Kirkhill Primary and Loirston Primary. The school worked in close partnership with Torry Academy in order to offer pupils a wider range of courses, some of which were facilitated by Aberdeen College. Pupils also attended Harlaw Academy and Aberdeen Grammar School for some Advanced Higher courses as part of the City Campus programme. History Kincorth Academy's coat of arms included several symbols, which represented various historical links. The towers indicated the city of Aberdeen and the portcullis was the link between Kincorth and Arbroath Abbey. Prior to 1527, the lands on which the school stands, belonged to the Abbey of Arbroath. Advanced Higher
The Advanced Higher is an optional qualification which forms part of the Scottish secondary education system brought in to replace the Certificate of Sixth Year Studies (CSYS). The first certification of Advanced Higher was in 2001. It is normally taken by students aged around 16–18 years of age after they have completed Highers, which are the main university entrance qualification in Scotland. An Advanced Higher is the highest certificate offered by the Scottish Qualifications Authority as part of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework. Altens is a district in the city of Aberdeen, on the north-east coast of Scotland. Altens is home to a large industrial estate, alongside a similar estate in neighbouring Tullos. Lochside Academy is a co-educational secondary school in Altens, Aberdeen, run by Aberdeen City Council. Its feeder primary schools are Abbotswell School, Charleston School, Kirkhill School, Loirston School, Tullos School, and Walker Road School. It serves secondary age pupils in the Cove Bay, Kincorth, Torry, and Nigg areas of Aberdeen. It opened in August 2018, at the start of the new school year. History The £47 million Lochside Academy was built on the site of Calder Park at Redmoss as a replacement for secondary schools in Torry and Kincorth, which both closed in July 2018. Aberdeen Grammar School is a state secondary school in Aberdeen, Scotland. It is one of thirteen secondary schools run by the Aberdeen City Council educational department. Harlaw Academy is a six-year comprehensive secondary school situated 200 yards from the junction of Union Street and Holburn Street in the centre of Aberdeen, Scotland. It is directly adjacent to St Margaret's School for Girls.
