Kim Ki-hoon
Kim Ki-hoon (born July 14, 1967) is a retired short-track speed skater and the first gold medalist in the Winter Olympics for South Korea. Kim is a three-time Olympic Champion and 1992 Overall World Champion. Career Kim first garnered attention when he participated in the short-track demonstration event at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, winning the gold medal in the 1500 metres. Kim swept all the gold medals available in short-track speed skating at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, winning won the gold medal in the 1000 metres in a world record time of 1:30.76, and claiming another gold in the 5000 metre relay in a world record time of 7:14.02. 1986 Asian Winter Games
The 1st Asian Winter Games ( ja, 1986年アジア冬季競技大会, 1986-Nen Ajia tōkikyōgitaikai) were held from March 1 to 8, 1986 in Sapporo, Hokkaidō, Japan. The Japanese Olympic Committee first suggested the idea of having a continent-wide winter version of the Asian Games in 1982. With Sapporo's expertise and infrastructure available after successfully hosting the 1972 Winter Olympics, the Olympic Council of Asia General Assembly in Seoul in 1984 decided to give Japan the privilege of hosting the first ever Asian Winter Games. Sylvie Daigle
Sylvie Daigle (born December 1, 1962) is a Canadian speed skater. She is a member of the Canadian short track relay team that won gold at the 1992 Winter Olympics and silver at the 1994 Winter Olympics. She is also a five-time Overall World Champion (for 1979, 1983, 1988–1990). She was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Career First competing in 1979, she has participated, and triumphed, in long-track events during the Canada Winter Games that year, winning gold in the 500-metre, 1000-metre and 1500-metre competitions. The following year in Lake Placid at the 1980 Winter Olympics, Sylvie Daigle finished 19th in the 500-metre. At Sarajevo in the 1984 Winter Olympics, she was 20th in the 500-metre, 25th in the 1000-metre and 22nd in the 1500-metre. Aiken Standard is a daily newspaper published from Aiken, South Carolina, United States. It was established in 1867. It was called the ''Aiken Press''. The newspaper passed through the hands of several owners during the 1800s. One of the paper's most prominent early owners was James F. Byrnes. Byrnes, who was a congressman, U.S. senator, South Carolina governor, U.S. Secretary of State, Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and “Assistant” to the President of the United States.
