Killian Overmeire
Killian Overmeire (born 6 December 1985) is a Belgian former professional Association football, footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Career A youth exponent of K.S.C. Lokeren Oost-Vlaanderen, Lokeren, Overmeire was active at the club from 2003 until 2020, where the club was declared bankrupt. He went on to play more than 400 league games for Lokeren. After the bankruptcy, Overmeire moved to K.S.C. Lokeren-Temse, Lokeren-Temse where he only made one cup appearance, before retiring from football in April 2021. He has since run two businesses with a partner. Lokeren
Lokeren () is a city and municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders, and belongs to the Waasland, also called ''Land van Waas'', of which it is the second most important city after Sint-Niklaas. The city, located on the river Durme, the Lede, and the E17 motorway, has more than 42,100 inhabitants, who are called Lokeraars or Rapenfretters. Because Lokeren is located on the Durme, Lokeren is often called "The Durme City". Horse sausages are officially recognized as a regional product. Toponym A group of authors see the element ''luken'' in the place name, which means (en)close or to close, to shut. Lokeren would refer to an enclosed place between the Durme and a forest area with wild animals. The 2014 Belgian Cup Final, named Cofidis Cup after the sponsor, was the 59th Belgian Cup final and took place on 22 March 2014 between Lokeren and Zulte Waregem. It was won by Lokeren with the only goal coming from Alexander Scholz. For Lokeren it was their second cup win in three years. Route to the final Match Summary Zulte Waregem had the best opportunities in a closed first half. Both Idrissa Sylla and Mbaye Leye saw their shot hit the post, while Lokeren only had one decent chance, the header of Nill De Pauw going wide. In the second half, the goal by Jens Naessens was correctly disallowed for offside. With just under an hour played, Alexander Scholz headed the ball into the top corner of the goal, which would remain the only goal of the game as Zulte Waregem did not manage to break through the Lokeren defence in the last half-hour, even though they saw most of the ball.
