2014 Belgian Cup Final
The 2014 Belgian Cup Final, named Cofidis Cup after the sponsor, was the 59th Belgian Cup final and took place on 22 March 2014 between Lokeren and Zulte Waregem. It was won by Lokeren with the only goal coming from Alexander Scholz. For Lokeren it was their second cup win in three years. Route to the final Match Summary Zulte Waregem had the best opportunities in a closed first half. Both Idrissa Sylla and Mbaye Leye saw their shot hit the post, while Lokeren only had one decent chance, the header of Nill De Pauw going wide. In the second half, the goal by Jens Naessens was correctly disallowed for offside. With just under an hour played, Alexander Scholz headed the ball into the top corner of the goal, which would remain the only goal of the game as Zulte Waregem did not manage to break through the Lokeren defence in the last half-hour, even though they saw most of the ball. Nill De Pauw (, born 6 January 1990) is a Congolese professional footballer who plays as a winger. A former youth international for Belgium, De Pauw represents the DR Congo national team. International career De Pauw was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to a Belgian father and Congolese mother, and moved to Belgium at a young age. He was a youth international for Belgium. On 9 October 2020, De Pauw represented the DR Congo national team in a friendly 3–0 loss to Burkina Faso. Gregory Mertens
Gregory Mertens (2 February 1991 – 30 April 2015) was a Belgium, Belgian professional football (soccer), football player. His usual position was Defender (association football)#Centre back, central defender. He last played for K.S.C. Lokeren Oost-Vlaanderen, Lokeren. Career Mertens moved from the reserves of K.A.A. Gent to the first team of Cercle Brugge in the List of Belgian football transfers winter 2010–11, 2010–11 winter transfer window, at the recommendation of manager Bob Peeters, who had been his coach at the Gent reserves the previous season. On 12 February 2011, Mertens made his senior debut for Cercle as an 89th-minute substitute for Hans Cornelis in a match against his former team R.S.C. Anderlecht. Cercle lost the match 1–0. Hamdi Harbaoui
Hamdi Harbaoui ( ar, حمدي الحرباوي; born 5 January 1985) is a Tunisian footballer who plays as a striker. Club career Harbaoui started his career in his home country with Espérance Tunis. In the winter transfer window in season 2007–08, Harbaoui joined Belgian side Mouscron, who loaned him to Visé. After two successful seasons with Visé he was signed by OH Leuven, who were at that time playing in the Belgian Second Division. At OH Leuven, he immediately became a key player, scoring 25 goals during the 2010–11 season and thereby became the second division top scorer. Having helped OH Leuven to promotion to the Belgian Pro League, he signed with Lokeren. With Lokeren, he won the 2011–12 Belgian Cup, scoring the only goal in the cup final. Sérgio Dutra Júnior (born 25 April 1988), known as Júnior Dutra, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Figueirense. Killian Overmeire
Killian Overmeire (born 6 December 1985) is a Belgian former professional Association football, footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Career A youth exponent of K.S.C. Lokeren Oost-Vlaanderen, Lokeren, Overmeire was active at the club from 2003 until 2020, where the club was declared bankrupt. He went on to play more than 400 league games for Lokeren. After the bankruptcy, Overmeire moved to K.S.C. Lokeren-Temse, Lokeren-Temse where he only made one cup appearance, before retiring from football in April 2021. Hans Vanaken
Hans Vanaken (born 24 August 1992) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Belgian Pro League club Club Brugge, whom he captains, and the Belgium national team. Vanaken is well known in Belgium for his prolific goal scoring ability despite playing in midfield. Club career Early career Vanaken began his career at the youth team of Lommel United before leaving the club to join the PSV Eindhoven academy in 2002 when the former declared bankruptcy.
