Kieran Murphy (rugby Union)
Kieran Murphy (born 19 January 1988) is a Scottish/Welsh rugby union player currently playing for Ealing Trailfinders in the RFU Championship. His position is at Number 8 and is known for his explosive power, superb speed off the base of the scrum and running support play around the field. Kieran previously played for Premiership side Llandovery RFC. He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland moving to Swansea, Wales when he was two years old and consequently qualifies to play for both Scotland and Wales at international level. He played his junior rugby for South Gower RFC, attended Bishopston Comprehensive in Swansea and after returning from his studies at Birmingham University where he often played for Veseyans RFC he joined Mumbles RFC before catching the eye of the Scarlets. He joined the Scarlets in June 2011 and made his debut for the first team against Leicester Tigers in the LV Cup match on 15 October 2011 at Parc y Scarlets. London Welsh Rugby Football Club ( cy, Clwb Rygbi Cymry Llundain) was a rugby union club formed in 1885. Based in Old Deer Park, Richmond-upon-Thames, London Welsh RFC played in the English Premiership in the 2012–13 and 2014–15 seasons, after gaining promotion from the RFU Championship in the 2012 and 2014 play-off final. The club returned to Old Deer Park in 2015 after three seasons at the Kassam Stadium, Oxford. The club went into liquidation in December 2016 and was given a temporary licence to complete two fixtures in the Championship. Chairman at the time Bleddyn Phillips claimed to have sold the club to a California-based investment group led by Welshman Trevor Owen Shaw, but no contract or funds ever materialised. On 24 January 2017 it was announced that London Welsh had been removed from the RFU Championship and their results expunged. The RFU Championship is an English rugby union competition comprising twelve clubs. It is the second level of men’s English rugby and is played by both professional and semi-professional players. The competition has existed since 1987, when English clubs were first organised into leagues. Organisation and format The Championship is governed by the Rugby Football Union (RFU).
