Kiata is a town in the Wimmera region of western Victoria, Australia. The town is north-west of the state capital of Melbourne, on the Western Highway. The population at the 2011 census was 251. The Kiata Wind Farm is located nearby. Facilities The only hotel in town is the Little Desert Hotel. Open for meals on Fridays and Saturdays. Kiata is also home to Inverness Motors, a museum of collectable and vintage car. Horsham, Victoria
Horsham () is a regional city in the Wimmera region of western Victoria, Australia. Located on a bend in the Wimmera River, Horsham is approximately northwest of the state capital Melbourne. As of the 2021 Census, Horsham had a population of 20,429. It is the most populous city in Wimmera, and the main administrative centre for the Rural City of Horsham local government area. It is the eleventh largest city in Victoria after Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Wodonga, Mildura, Shepparton, Warrnambool, Traralgon, and Wangaratta. Nhill is a town in the Wimmera, in western Victoria, Australia. Nhill is located on the Western Highway, halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne. At the , Nhill had a population of 1,749. It is located within the Western Victoria Region of the Legislative Council. It was initially created by the Electoral Act Amendment Act 1888, taking effect at the 1889 elections. Wimmera
The Wimmera is a region of the Australian state of Victoria. The district is located within parts of the Loddon Mallee and the Grampians regions; and covers the dryland farming area south of the range of Mallee scrub, east of the South Australia border and north of the Great Dividing Range. It can also be defined as the land within the social catchment of Horsham, its main settlement. Most of the Wimmera is very flat, with only the Grampians and Mount Arapiles rising above vast plains and the low plateaux that form the Great Divide in this part of Victoria. The Western Highway is the Victorian part of the principal route linking the Australian cities of Melbourne and Adelaide, with a length of approximately of single carriageway, then of dual carriageway known as the Western Freeway. It is a part of the National Highway network and designated routes A8 and M8. The western end continues into South Australia as the Dukes Highway, the next section of the Melbourne–Adelaide National Highway. Kiata Wind Farm
Kiata Wind Farm is a small wind farm located along the Western Highway (Victoria), Western Highway south east of Nhill. The wind farm is owned by Windlab, the John Laing Group and some local shareholders. The turbines were built by Keppel Prince and assembled at the site by Windlab. It was "officially opened" by Lily D'Ambrosio on Australia Day 2018. According to Kiata Wind Farm director Rob Fisher, the Kiata turbines "are the biggest turbines operating in Australia to date." Little Desert National Park
The Little Desert National Park is a national park in the Wimmera Mallee region of Victoria, Australia. The national park is situated near Dimboola, approximately west of Melbourne and extends from the Wimmera River in the east to the South Australian border in the west near . While the region is surrounded by agricultural land, the area of the Little Desert itself "consists mainly of deep sandy soils with very low fertility, interspersed with small pockets of clay soils.
