Khasavyurt, Dagestan
Khasavyurt (russian: Хасавю́рт; av, Хасаюрт; ce, Хаси-Эвл, ''Xasi-Evl''; kum, Хасав-ю́рт, ''Xasav-yurt'') is a city in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia. Population: History It was founded in 1846 and granted town status in 1931. During the Russian Empire, the settlement was the administrative capital of the Khasavyurtovsky Okrug of the Terek Oblast. On August 19, 2012, six police officers were killed and eight people injured at two gun and bomb attacks in the city. The town has thousands of Salafis. In December 2016, the Russian authorities reported the existence of the Khasavyurt Group, allegedly linked to the Islamic State and a flareup of incidents and skirmishes between the police and local militants in and around the city. The Laks (self-designation: Lak) are a Northeast Caucasian ethnic group native to an inland region known as ''Lakia'' within Dagestan in the North Caucasus. They speak the Lak language. Laks historically live in the Lakskiy and Kulinskiy districts of Dagestan. This ethnocultural area is known as Lakia. There are about 200,000 ethnic Laks in the world. Buvaisar Hamidovich Saitiev, also spelled Buvaysar Hamidovich Saytiev, (russian: Бувайсар Хамидович Сайтиев, ce, Сайт КIант Бувайса) (born March 11, 1975, in Khasavyurt, Dagestan ASSR) is a Russian retired Freestyle wrestling, freestyle wrestler of Chechens, Chechen heritage, who represented Russia, and List of World and Olympic Champions in men's freestyle wrestling#9 World Level Championships, won nine world-level gold medals in freestyle wrestling (second most, behind Aleksandr Medved's ten). Adam Hamidovich Saitiev, also spelled Saytiev, ( ce, Адам Хамидович Сайтиев, born December 12, 1977) is a Russian wrestler of Chechen descent who won gold at the 2000 Summer Olympics for the Russian Federation at 85 kg cat. Adam also won the Wrestling World Championships in 1999 and 2002. Köppen Climate Classification
The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936.
